I've started watching a few episodes and I like it very much. I've also recently find out a website on which you can make an essay about why you like FMA. If I see that there's someone interested I'll post the link here too. For now, I just want to know if you like it :D

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of my favorites. It had pretty much everything I enjoy in an anime - action, drama, compelling characters, intricate storyline, humor, beautiful art, a gorgeous soundtrack.... There are very, very few flaws in the series and what flaws it has are easily overlooked. It is most definitely a phenomenon that helped to pave the way for anime to be released and aired in mainstream America. With the release of the movie in American theaters, more and more anime production studios realized there is a market for anime. A huge market just waiting to be tapped. The success of Fullmetal Alchemist has been a major stepping stone for the anime industry in America.

You are pretty right, it doesn't have many flaws and everything seems to be just great. I haven't seen the movie yet so I won't state that the ending of the series was dissapointing :). It's a very widely spread anime and more and more people seem to like it

I have a daughter who is into anime and because of her from time to time I find myself watching them too. I do like and watch FMJ, I also watch Inuyasha, Black Jack and there are a few other I watch from time to time. I don't know if 'Avatar' is considered anime but that is my fav.. It wasn't hard for me to sort of develop a liking for anime cause I have always loved cartoons, and animated stories. I guess that is one way of keeping in touch with 'My InnerChild'.

Yes it is, I "feed" my imagination with anime so I can make good compositions at school :)). Just joking :P, the real reason is much more complex, but related to what you said :)

Similar reasons for me too.. the stories are just fascinating.. and in a way anime stories seem to be in the middle.. its like its between that age of kids and adults.. some themes are surprisingly mature and some are definitely funny in a kiddish way.

I liked FMA.. and I guess one of the reasons I liked it was because it was really the first anime I saw with Japanese voice acting (the others were stuff I saw in Animax with English) and I have to say that their voice acting is far superior. The story's pretty good, the characters are pretty realistic and extremely likeable.. but the manga is still ongoing and seems even better than the anime.. And while the anime's good, I have to say that I did not quite agree with how the movie ended as the best possible solution..

I haven't seen the movie yet, still in the series.. but lots of people I know who watched the whole series and then the movie, would certainly agree with you. Thanks for your nice response, the best answer goes to you :)

i loved it so much at the beginning, well... actually, i like the manga more, but the anime was great too. but i didn't like the ending. i don't want to spoil it for you, so i'll just say that it was really sad. the movie(OVA) tried to make up for it, but i still didn't like it all that much, but if you take away the end, the anime was great

Don't worry about spoilling because I've seen the complete series since my original post :). Yes, I think that's the one flaw that everyone sees in this anime.. It could've been much more interesting

FMA is one of the best series I've seen, and actually one of the few times I really prefer the manga over the anime, even though they're quite a bit different. Ed and Al's relationship is beautiful and devoted and heart-breaking, it makes me miss my own brother to watch the show... to have that sort of emotional connection, to portray it so well, is definitely one of the strengths of the show. The complex politics, the magic system (because alchemy is a magic system, though a scientific one with involved rules) is interesting and engaging, and most of all the believable and empathtic characters make it one of the most watchable shows to come out in recent years. I sound so dramatic! But seriously, if I want to convert a friend to anime, I show them FMA. It's that good.

I agree with you, the relationship between the 2 brothers is very well developed and it even shows brothers the way they should behave with each other. And don't worry about you dramatizing, because that's a big part of what makes anime so good ^_^

It seems that the vast majority of people think that the ending was not the right one :). I agree with you, it was not what I've been expecting either

Well, it's a good one. I actually just watch 8 episodes 'till now but already "fallen" to his anime. The story is both funny and sad. Anyway, it's GREAT to see Ed & Al adventuring to regain their real body by using alchemist. ( ^_^ )

Yeah! That series was really amazing but I didnt really agree with the series ending (I hope for better ending, like, they have some other solution to bring their bodies back to normal). They were separated when the series ended and I havent seen the movie of FMA. I guess I will hunt that DVD somewhere, I didnt know that FMA has released a movie. Thanks for informing me.
