Hi do you overspend when you go shopping?? I make a list of my shopping and I try to stick to that but I am wondering how many others are able to do this without overspending on their shopping

Hi Gaby, well I have put a discussion for my friends to respond to my unresolved discussions and they are doing this for me and unfortunately I missed this one it was when I was very new so I have given you a best response for this one today.

I've had times when I've overspent and even had to put stuff back because I couldn't pay for it all as I hadn't bought enough cash, it's very embarrassing when that happens. I try to write a list and stick to it but Super Markets have ways of making you buy more than you intended. They put offers on things and such to make you buy things you wouldn't normally I suppose they hope you'll get hooked on these new products and keep buying them in the future which is a dirty trick really. I buy things when they are on offer but rarely buy things I wouldn't normally when the price goes back up. That way you benefit from trying new things but don't end up spending more money in the long run.

I try to stick to a shopping list but I always end up picking things up that I see while shopping that were not on my list.

I dont usually overspend when I go shopping. I try to just get what I need and get out. When I buy groceries I do pick up some extra things that I dont have on my list, but I try not to over spend.

If I make a list and have the time to go shopping by myself, I can stick to the list just fine. It's when DH and SS15 go with me, that they'll sneak all sorts of stuff in the cart that they just can't live without.

I can't remember the last time I went shopping without buying any 'extras'! Glad to know I'm not alone!

I seem to always overspend. I am doing better - but my bill is always higher than what I anticipated. I go with a list and always come out with extras. Never fails!

I just got back from Wal Mart. I went to get a collar and leash for my dog, $10 tops. I paid $110 at the checkout! I figured I'd get a few groceries and cleaning supplies, my 4 year old had to have the Mickey Mouse ice cream bars, hubby had to have a drill bit and some oil.....it adds up. I only wanted the new collar and leash. *sigh*
