does it burn your butt to buy new or used books and pay more for shipping?

Have you ever purchased a used book or something on ebay or Amazon and had the price be lower than the few dollars that it costs to ship it to you? I have, right before Christmas I purchased 6 books for 6.48 fom amazon and the price of shipping and handling was over $18.00 which just burnt my rump!

YES!!! I bought a used book on Amazon and paid about 1.50 for the book and then 4.00 for shipping. That is crazy. But it was still cheaper then buying it new at the book store. By the way, you have really good discussion's, I have posted replies on a few tonight. Good job!!!

I don't buy used books online. As a college student buying books can be expensive and I do the majority of my textbook shopping online. I only buy online if the new book plus shipping saves me money over buying the book new from the school book store. I however buy used books from the book store when I can find them in decent condition and the savings is worth it. My problem with buying used books online is that most sites like Amazon and Half.com don't have pictures of the books, just the sellers description, which is generally vague and misleading. As a result I stay away from used books because I'm always afraid I'm going to get a book that is truly of poor quality that isn't even worth the cheap price I might have paid.

I can completely understand that however I am an affiliate of several new and used textbook companies. You can go to my site http://sharone74.tripod.com I would recommend Abe books as a great place to start. I am in college also but I attend online and thus can print my textbooks for free

That happens to me all the time, because I live in Portugal and International shipping is a bit expensive. I order my books from amazon.co.uk, if I ordered from amazon.com I could pay extra taxes (because it doesn't belong to European Union), and they could cost me twice as the order (talking as big as 50$). Scary isn't it?
