Do you give your kids an allowance?

Do you give your kids an allowance? If so, how much do you give? Do they have a chore list that pays them the allowance so they have to earn it, or do they get the money on a weekly basis without doing chores? How does this work in your household? Please include ages of your kids if they do get allowance... Thanks.

My niece who I help to raise gets an allowance. She gets $20 for the month. It does depend on what she does around the house and how well she has done them. She's 12 by the way, forgot to say that. I know it's not as much as some kids get but it's all we can afford right now.

My daughters do get an allowance but they have to work for it. They have chores such as cleaning their room daily, picking up after themselves, clearing the table...etc. They get paid only for what they have done each day. I think it teaches the the value of working for something they want. I don;t think just giving them money for nothing is beneficial to them in the future.
