About 25 years ago I was returning to Portugal after a visit home. When I was checking in at Logan Airport I noticed that I had lost my favorite ring. It was not on my finger. After finishing checking in I sat down and took everything out of my purse three times and could not find the ring. Since I still had time before my plane took off I traced my steps from my previous flight which was at a different gate. Nothing. When I got to Portugal my friend noticed that my ring was not on my finger and asked why. I told her what happenened. She then took everything out of my purse and didn't find anything either. A few days later she asked for a cigarette and I said look in my purse. When she opened the purse there was the ring sitting in plain sight on top of the others things in the purse. I have no explanation as to what or how it happened. Does anyone have any ideas? Has something like this ever happened to you?

Several times I have experienced similar happenings. I do believe that there are forces that we cannot explain. If we ponder too long on the how and whys we would drive ourselves nuts. Today, I was making bean soup and wished that I had peppercorns for my peppermill. I ran out of them last week. With a sigh, I turned to the spice cupboard to grab the container of ground pepper and what did I spy but a jar of black peppercorns. They weren't there last week. I searched every container and it was not there.

It was weird that my eyes were looking for the ground pepper and my hand went right toward the black peppercorns. This was the first strange happening at my house. Maybe JoJo, the spirit from my former workplace, has found his way here.

I hear they sometimes follow people from place to place.

Maybe you have a friendly ghost in your kitchen as we do. We find things missing and then a couple of days or weeks later they will be where they should have been in the first place. But your experience goes a little bit further unless your friendly ghost went to the store and made a five-finger purchase. Always good to see you

I am always open to things unexplained. I am also interested in trying to find a logical reason for things before I jump to the supernatural. There have been a few times that I have lost something and just could not find it no matter how hard I looked. Then when I least expected to find it, there it was. It's like your mind is playing tricks on you and you are looking so hard that you just look right through it. It's like you are thinking too much and rather than looking for an item, you mind starts thinking about how hard it is trying to find something missing. You stop searching and just starting thinking. Get me? Anyway, just a thought! Wouldn't it be cool to REALLY know what happened though??

I sure would. I have mislaid many things only to find them at some time but its always in the same place where I lost it. It's the same way in accounting as well....you run a tape to verify the sum total and it is not the same...and the more you try the harder it gets. If you walk away from it then come back and run another total it almost always is the correct one. Our eyes do sometimes play tricks on us. But in the case of the ring I was not the only one who veriried that the ring was missing. Had it been just myself then it could possible be thoughless ness. But finding it over 3000 miles away is mind boggling. Thanks somuch for dropping by and your interesting input. Happy New Year.

Yes, it seems like our eyes play strange tricks on us. It is frustrating to say the least. The question is, was it there all the time and we just didn't see it, or did it vanish temporarily only to appear later?. I guess we'll never know. Thanks for dropping by and for your input.

Nothing like that has happened to me, but I sure wish it would. I bought 3 birthstone rings, one for each of my 3 granddaughters quite a few years ago. When each one turned 13, I was going to give them their ring. They are now 19, 18 and almost 13, and I still haven't been able to find the 3 rings I bought when they were younger. We've been in the same house since I got them. Maybe they'll turn up when we get ready to move next year. I sure hope so. I can imagine how happy you were to get your ring back.

there's no boubt adout it. It still amazes me when I think about it if the purse hadn't been taken apart five times by two different people there might have been a logical explanation but under the circumstances whew just thinking about it makes the hairs stand up straight. It is aggrevating when you lose something that you know should be there as in the case of your three rings. But as you say with luck they will turn up in the move. Always nice to chat with you.

I dont know, perhaps you were stressing out and so you didn't see it as well as you should, or considering you were flying probably not in the most attentive of moods, or it got caught on something else when you were taking stuff out of your purse or perhaps you a have a rip in the lining of your bag? Whilst I do believe in the paranormal and fate and all that I still believe there are logical explainations behind it all.

There was no lining in the purse nor any holes in it...it was a woven straw bag. Had it been there I would have found it and if I had been frantic it might have fallen out onto the floor. I just don't know what happened. Thanks for stopping by and trying to help me solve the dilema.

Yes, it would make it more believeable had anyone seen it with their own eyes. I still find it hard to believe every time I look at it on my finger. Thanks for dropping by.

Yes, it does. I have found or experienced so many things in my long life that are either too hard to believe and too convincing not to believe. It gets scary after awhile. Thank you so much for dropping in and for your input.

First, I'd like to say I'm SO happy you were able to find your ring! I did have something happen to me like that. A few times actually. But one of which, I found tonight! It wasn't something special to me, but that's not the point. A while back I had taken my daughters teething toys out of the fridge to clean them. I went to get her one because she's cutting teeth right now. I coudlnt find them. I took everything out of the fridge, looked all over the kitched, etc. Well.. tonight, weeks later there they were in the fridge in plane sight. It was crazy!

I know the feeling. Maybe you have a "friendly" ghost that likes to play tricks. There just doesn't seem to be any logical explanation but we know that it happens. Thanks for dropping by and sharing your experience.

It could have been hidden in a fold or something and got bounced up to be in plain view. My purse eats things too so things like this has happened to me before.

My problem is, how did it get off my finger and into the purse without my knowledge. The ring was a snug fit and sometimes I had trouble removing it. Thanks for dropping by and for your input.

it looks like someone was playing with you. where i grew up we would call them menehune's...little spirits who like to have fun and take things, then put them in different places. its great that you got your ring back, since it was something important to you, and it looks expensive anyway. you can believe what ever you want to believe, just know that it did happen and that there are things out there you just can't explain =)

I am sure that there must be some opera lovers in here. I would like to know which composers you like best as well as their Operas. If you are like me you like some but not all. First on my list is Verdi and his operas, Il Trovatori, La Traviata, and Aida. Second on my list is Puccini and his operas La Boheme, Madame Butterfly and Tosca Other operas I like are Donazetti's L'esir d'Amour, especially the aria Uma Lacrima Furtiva. Bizet's Carmen has some popular arias but it has never been one of my favorite operas. I could go on with more but I think these will suffice for now. I'll shut up and give yawl a chance.

I don't know... but I don't like using a purse because it seems so easily for things to get lost in it. It could be between something else or in a fold or something. I finally had to buy a jewelry box after I bought some expensive (well, somewhat expensive) pieces of jewelry that I did not want to lose. I always put them away (well, usually). And that way I don't lose them.

Pigglies, the ring was on my finger when I lost it. I thought that would have found it in the purse but it wasn't there. I did not put it there in the first place it just appeared there about a week later. And the purse didn't have a lining so it couldn't have got lodged in there. Always nice to see you. Thanks for dropping by.

That is true. But that still doesn't explain how I found something that I had lost 3,000 miles away because when I left Boston I ABSOLUTELY did not have the ring in my possession nor was it found when I got to Lisbon. Thanks for dropping in.

That happens to me all the time. I chalk it up to my mind just playing tricks on me, and that I'm so intent on finding it that when I'm hardcore on it, I'm looking in the hard places and missing the easy places. And of course, it could be divine intervention - I've never really looked deeply into it.

But has the missing object ever crossed the Atlantic ocean? That's what's so strange. To lose it in the US and then find it in Portugal. As you say, when we are intent on finding something it is usually under our noses and we look right through or over it but when we least expect it there it is.

supernatural and unexplained things amaze me! as they do most people... i would imagine lol. the one that spooks me is 'de ja vĂș'. ( however you spell it). I have had dreams about meeting people or family i have never met before, and i have described what these people look like and then my parents will say... OH MY GOD!! thats.....! and they would give me a name.. but i would be puzzled! i no it aint a great experience but im still young yet! lol

I don't think that deja vu has ever occurred in my dreams but I have been places in several parts of the world and I had the eerie feeling that I had been there before. I posted a discussion on that in late November but it got lost in the shuffle. Thank you for dropping in and for your input.

My friends and I have been caught in similar situations before, most people would dismiss them as pure coincidence, but I would like to think that there is a guardian angel watching out for each and every one of us.

well it seems to be supernatural thing...but not like that before switching to the conclusion of supernaral thing better is to find some logical answer brhind it...i think you are eager to find something you mind is distrub completely and unable to think properly and after somedays you will find that perticular object found which partially out of your memory that we are eager t ofind before day, week sometimes yera also. as i have experienced this many times.so i put my view here!!!

I have read about many things that have no logical meaning. That doesn't mean they didn't happen. It is not that I am disturbed about the issue it's just that most things that happen in our everyday life can be explain with pure logic. But every now and again something happens that makes our mind start working overtime. I am not sure that I will ever be able to explain what happened and frankly I am not going to lose any sleep over it. Someone somewhere may have a logical explanation that is not mundane but well researched and proven. Until that time I have to accept reality. Thanks for dropping by and for your input.

this things always happens to me & my siblings. our mom always told us to keep our room neat & tidy to avoid such incident but then I always find MY stuff in the mess of my room. only a particular item which is always important that is missing ... we called this insident as the "borrowing time of the borrowers"

You remind me of many instances when I've been losing things in the house. My favorite saint to pray to when I need help to find something is St. Anthony and I have proven it very effective, especially if the item is just mislaid and not stolen. I don't know if you believe in saints (catholic saints). This reminds me, I need to find my camera which I recently lost in the house. I'll be summoning St. Anthony today and let you know.

That is true. But it is aggrevating when you are sure you know where it is, don't find it at the time, but it's there when you go back. Wierd. Thanks for dropping by and for your response.
