That's a tough question. I think that there are non-violent ways to solve issues if people aren't trying to kill you. If I want to be your friend but you keep punching me in the nose everytime I try it's going to be hard to be friends. But if we can keep from punching each other long enough to talk and settle differences I am sure all things can be solved in a non-violent way. I just can't see if happening in the near future and before it does we may just have killed everyone that wants to settle things non-violently.

Wow, a seriously intelligent comment! I love the line "I think there are non-violent ways to solve issues if people aren't trying to kill you." That is just about the sum of it. I have always loved the idea of Martin Luther King, peaceful resistance, but like always another faction came along. Malcolm X and his 'any mean necessary' mentality was the most popular among the people. That tells me people are naturally inclined to commit acts of violence in order to gain or maintain some state of affairs. There truly are few people in the world who are actually able to see what the result of a non-violent mentality would be. The fact that so many Americans are against the war is surprising to me. Why wouldn't we want to have war against a regime that is motivated to destroy us? Sure it would be nice to just walk up to them and say, 'look, let's just stop this nonsense. We can get along if we try to get to know each other.' Somebody could get their head blown off doing that. I am known for quoting Rodney King all the time - "Can't we all just get along?" That is what would be ideal. However, the answer is no and sometimes you have to be willing to arm yourself against attack and end a threat against you.
