Why am I so depressed on my birthday??

January 2, 2007 8:17pm CST
Today is my birthday, and nobody remembered really.....nobody but two exes......I have been really depressed since I woke up this morning. I just felt like crying the minute I opened my eyes. I know once you reach a certain age that your birthday really doesnt matter anymore...but I can't help but feel a little disappointed.....Im only 22 today....not 60....why do I feel like this? And, what can I do to get out of this funk Im in?

Don't think of yourself too much, and you sill see that birthday is not so important any more.

Happy Birthday to you. :-) I am sorry that your friends or family remembered your birthday. That is terrible. I wish that I could be 22 again. You are so young and have a lot to live for and have many things you probably want to accomplish. Do you have goals that you want to achieve but you have not as of yet? Think of those goals and go for it. Stay positive and keep busy and find things to do that you enjoy.

Important to celebrate the birthday for you? Did you always celebrate your birthday? once you heard had the country that not where his inhabitants did not heed you the birthday or not, like that I had been natural since I was small I had not celebrated the birthday let alone getting the surprise in my birthday, you were busy very much by this.

Its just because you know your gonna keep getting older. You won't be old until 18 more years which is about the time you lived now. Everyone starts to feel that way after they turn 21. Why? Because theres nothing else to lookf roward to... Gambling, Drinking, etc.. Well, thats what I think. Oh and I consider just 40+ old... Sorry if I offend anyone...

Any I take the opertunity to wish U on behalf of mylot community. All these things are normal nowodays, as you become elder, ppl ( family members ) generally forget your birthday dates, bcoz they feel that u r not a kid to celeberate your birthday. Never mind at this age, u have celeberate your friends who will fulfill all your thoughts and make you feel very happy. In a family you get love and affection but not happiness to the extent what u want. Be cool and just leave it...

Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday dear .... Happy Birthday to You. Don't worry dear. I wish you a very very happy birthday. It does matter how old you are. It is in you, what you believe you are. You will be some day at 60 but it is upto you how you make your 60 to 16. Just Cheer Up. Hang out with friends. Give them treat. Make happiness from your side first, then really others will make you happy. What you give to others, others give that to you in return.

first of all very happy birthday to you, you are so young for people to forget, i was like that on my 30th, miserable all day long and my poor dad couldn't understand what was wrong with me, he kept saying cheer up all the time but it passed and that was 28 yrs ago so all i can say is try and cheer up and enjoy your life

Yeah you are right. After awhile birthdays almost feel like a jewish celebrating Christmas! You can control that yourself also. Get out and have fun. I treat myself to a spa every year on my birthday. I bought myself and IPOD one year. Get outand treat yourself. Don't be waiting for things to happen and handed to you! You might find something or someone in the process that is worthwhile. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birhtday!!! Maybe the ones close to you don't seem to care, but there are a lot of people who do...just look at us, we are wishing you all the best, and care for you. If your birthday wasn't as you expected, you can make it completely different next year...I mean, if you do try to make it a wonderful day for you, you can have the time of your life. I've also had sad birthdays, and I think it is basically due to the moment you are facing...you may be a bit down (or even depressed, who knows?) and maybe you became especially sensitive because of the date. But this doesn't have to happen for the rest of your life...the change is up to you! Best wishes!

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Now it seems that you have had many things going on in your life lately that would have had more to do with this feeling of depression than it just being your birthday. I have also had some really miserable birthdays, but I am sure that you have had some good birthdays in the past, and that you will have many more in the future. Now, go out and treat yourself to something you really want to do. Go to lunch and then buy yourself something you really want. Just because others may not remember your birthday doesn't mean that YOU can't celebrate it.
