What do you think of stay at home dads? I love spending time with my 2 children, who are 22 months and 7 months. It is tough at times, but also very rewarding. I think it is the best job I have ever had, and my last job paid about $80K/year. I am 24, but my wife is very successful and we want to homeschool, so we figure this is the best. What do you think?

I think that's great. It's time we moved beyond outdated gender roles and stereotypes, and I think it's awesome that you stay at home and take care of the kids. If you can do it, there's no reason not to! I think you're doing a great thing and I hope it becomes more common in the coming years.

Thank you, and yes, at first it was really hard, but now it is better due to both the children and I learning each other and setting a good schedule. I do hope more dads can do this rewarding work!

wow, that all sounds great. you have the chance most other people dont. your kids are lucky. your wife is lucky too, to have a man that does not mind been at home with the kids. and yes, i know how crazy it can be, i have a 3 year old and daughter at school. im at home with him until he goes to preschool, then back to school for me to finish my degree. your awesome, keep it up, and hey, girls potty train so much faster then boys.

I keep thinking that I might be potty training them at the same time LOL. That would be perfect for me because it would be a lot easier, but I doubt it. I just chuckle when I think of that idea, but you never know! I will not force them, of course!

I think it's great. I was a stay at home dad for a while a few years ago and I loved it. I got to spend lots of quality time with my kids. I am glad that I am working again though. The main reason that I was a stay at home dad was because I was in an accident while driving truck in Oct. of 02 and wasn't able to work for over a year. But I did enjoy being a stay at home dad.

I think it is wonderful that you are taking an active role in your children's lives. My ex-husband didn't pay much attention to our son cause he claimed that it was a woman thing. He is ignorant. You and your children will have a much closer bond!

I don't think it matters what anyone else thinks, as long as this is what you want and both you and your wife are happy with the arrangement. Personally, I think it's sweet and commendable that you're staying at home with your children. I don't know many men who would be able to handle it. I like the idea of homeschooling in certain situations. There are people who choose to homeschool and then get lazy about it, because it is ALOT of work, but then there are those that do it successfully. Good luck in your venture, and I wish you and your little ones all the best.

I see nothing wrong with that at all,of course I was a stay at home dad, myself.I received custody of my two oldest boys back in a time when it was unheard of for men to get custody.I worked and raised them until I married my son's babysitter. We have been married now for 29 years. We also have three of our own. Anyway I was disabled about seven years ago and have not worked since.I watched our kids while my wife worked and it turned out alright. The kids are grown up and on their own now and i kind of miss those times. Not really just kidding, its nice and quite now. I think more men should do it,if it is better for him to stay at home and his wife work.

That is awesome! I wish I could do that, as it would probably be a great experience for both me and my children. Staying home with the kids is a great thing and there is nothing wrong with it, as long as you can handle the kids, which it sounds like you can. Congrats and keep up the good work!
