I just noticed that one of our satellite channels is bringing back re-runs of Mad About You. I used to love this show! I always thought Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser had great chemistry. Are you a fan?

That's a great show. I used to really enjoy watching it. I thought that Murray the dog was adorable as well. I've have to check to see if I can get this show on satellite Thanks for remembering this show and sharing.

Aww you're right! Murray was so cute! I just found out today that the dog's real name was Maui! Don't know why I find that kind of funny but I did :)

I used to watch this show quite often and thought that it was a cute and funny show! ^_^ I'm a big fan of sitcoms, actually, and think that it is a shame that so many of the really truly good ones have gone off of the air in the past few years. Thankfully we still have Scrubs! ^_^ Anyway, I wanted to reply here because I was so pleased that the poster above me mentioned Murray the dog. I had totally forgotten about Murry!!! How adorable was he!! Aw. Thank you for the reminder of such a sweet show and such a cute dog. ^_^

And I just adored Hank Azaria as "Nat the dog walker" LOL He and Murray had such telepathy!

I loved the show up until she cheated. It just wasn't the same after that.

I agree about them having Mabel too, but I think the show could have picked up momentum even then. It was more the fact that the couple lost the "magic" they had between them.

Yeah, a few people I know have said, while Jaime was kissing another guy and Paul conveniently forgot that he was getting ready to sleep with someone else, it killed the show for them. Others lost interest when they had Mabel as they thought that it changed the dynamic of the show into something it should never have been.

I really enjoy this show. I think it probably stayed on longer than it should have, which partly explains the not as great quality toward the end. I think with both Mad About You and Friends (which I also loved), in the final seasons many of the characters had almost turned into caricatures of themselves. I wonder if that's inevitable when a comedy stays on for many years? There is a Mad About You CD, and in addition to music (some from the show, some I guess kind of reminiscent?) there are some inserts of dialogue from the show. I love the very first one, which is from an early episode, perhasp the very first one, when they're talking about what marriage is. He says, "You put up with my crap and I put up with your crap" and she says, "That's MARRIAGE?" and he replies "This is what I'm thinking." It's funny but it also really kind of describes a lot of the day to day stuff about marriage to me. I always found this show very touching, and even though it stretches believability a bit thin, I really liked the final episode. I recently caught that on a cable station that runs the show in syndication and just like every time I saw it, I cried at the end when the Faith Hill song is playing and they have the montage of footage. It's a great song called "You Give Me Love" and what they did with all of the footage could have almost been a music video for the song.

Oh and the Thanksgiving episode with all of the turkeys is one of the single funniest bits of television I've ever seen. When she throws that turkey out of the window....

Mad About You - great comedy
OMG.. I used to watch that all the time!!! My favorite was when Paul would say "I'll tell you why... One, because it's not right and B because it can make people angry"... mixing the number and letter thing together. I'll have to check and see if any of our cable channels got it!

This used to be one of my favorite shows also!! I love Helen Hunt! My favorite episode is where the dog keeps running into the wall when it's chasing the mouse, lmao....that is hilarious!!! What the heck was the dog's name??? AhHHH, I can't think of it, it's right there, but it won't pop in my head, ugh....I hate that!

I was a fan the first couple years the show was on the air but I started to lose interest toward the end of its run. I thought it was one of those shows that "overstayed" and was sort of past its shelf life. Don't know how I'd feel about reruns though.

I know what you mean by "overstayed"... it's kind of sad when a show comes across with that feeling that the writers are just reaching for storylines :(

I love the Mad about you show and also watch the reruns when I catch them on. Yes they did have a great on screen relationship and acted well together. They were the perfect married couple. It is a show no one ever gets tired of watching and will be a classic show like Charmed is.

I USED to watch, but now I also see the reruns and I don't like it anymore. I thought it was cute at the time, but when it came out again as reruns this past year, I couldn't even stand watching a few minutes of it! It's weird how that happens. Didn't they have a dog? I remember the dog being my favorite character :)
