Do you think IRC is a dying protocol?

I think it is dead long ago. I used it before Skype appeared. Now I use Skype, ICQ and YM. There you can chat with people you know. In IRC there are so many anonymous people and so many bots. What is the use of so bots? I think they are useless.

The bots kick people and set modes instead of a person having to worry about it. ICQ has bots too, and some rooms would get extremely annoying if they wern't there.

What is the use of the bots if there aren't any people?

They are robots that function on their own.. so if no ones there to kick someone out they are programmed to do it.
