when i parked my car overnight in a parking lot near a pub, i removed my radio/stereo as a precaution against theft. I also left a boldly written sign in the window: no radio,no valuable, nothing in trunk,,"in the next morning i found a window broken, and scribbled on were the mere words"just checking"..

Its funny in a way but I'm sure you weren't happy about it. But I do see the humor in it. I'm sorry that now you have to replace your window.

That IS pretty funny. However, if that had happened to me, I doubt I would find it funn at all. I admire that you can find it funny.

Yep, that's funny and probably they wanted to make sure that you were telling the truth.

car - Please don't steal from our cars! ^_~
LOL! I've heard variations on this joke before. I wonder if it has ever really happened? I can't imagine theives taking the time to write a note. It would be so much easier to track them if they did such a thing. Anyway, thanks for sharing!^_^

What measures does one have to go to to protect what is theire maybe next time do the same but leave the window down and add to the note window left opes as you didn`t want them to cut themselves while breaking the window

No, I don't think this is not funny. Some drunken idiot must have thought it would be a good prank to do it. Maybe someone else will do it to him some day. Probably the best thing to do is to take your valuables with you and write nothing. Then it would attract less attention.

Oh, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. You know, you might have drawn attention to your car by writing that, and some smart alec just can't resist responding in a destructive way. If you don't mind a little piece of advice, if you want your car left alone, don't do anything to it that will draw attention to it. Stay inconspicuous. It's no guarantee your car will be safe because thieves and vandanlists are everywhere. But at least you won't attract their attention on purpose.

That's funny but still very disturbing and irritating. I am so glad I am never in a place that I have to assume someone is going to break in.

oh dear....no i don't think that's funny at all. personally, i wouldn't have written a note. That's just tempting a thief to break in!

It's more than funny...it's hysterical! I'd say the culprit had a heck of a sense of humor. Something else I find funny is the fact that several responses are not even responses, they are just jokes that people posted. Also, #10 response is a cut/paste from #1 response. Amazing, isn't it?

Anyway, your equipments got saved. Otherwise, 'taking' must have followed 'checking'! Honestly, the thief had verified your honesty! Thanks!
