Oh my gosh! this was the worst. Ok, if you have a sensitive stomach, now is the time to quit reading. I am posting this because I am hoping someone out there will benefit from my awful experience. I started Friday the 5th of January like any day, went to work. Well, my stomach was hurting. I had a juice protein shake and a celery stick for breakfast. About 2 hours later diarrhea started. Not bad, but enough to know it might be best to go home. ON the way home at 9:15 I felt like i had gas, but from previous experience, I knew I better just hold it, and I was right when I got home, same results. About 2 hours later I started to vomit. Then every two hours diahrrea and vomit. There was nothing in my stomach, so it was all this thick green bile I guess. It was horrible. I tried antiacids, no help. I took 2 of my promethazine 25mg that I take for nausea, but it did not stop the every 2 hour bouts. It seemed to me like my stomach would build up this acid and it would hurt, I would throw up and feel better. At around 5pm I had a little bit of water with about a half a teaspoon of baking soda, then at 7pm, same day, I took 2 more of the promethazine and chewed a pepto-bismo generic pill. I have not got sick since then, but I have not taken much in either. about 8 oz water and A piece of wheat bread with a spoon of jelly. I'm afraid to eat or drink anything. I feel a whole lot better than yesterday, but I don't want this to happen again either, so I am being very careful... My second concern - I hope this is not my gall bladder or something like that. Anyone else?

I feel for you. Hope you're feeling better now. Normally it's just a way for your body to rid itself of toxins that it can't handle. Sometimes it's just a bug that goes around. I had a 24hr bug once that made me really sick. But then again, you may never know why you were so sick.

THat is what I am hoping. I remember as a kid having the same reaction. Usually the first sign of a toxin in my body is a headache. Next is the big "D", then, thankfully not often, but often enough is the big "V". It usually happens around the first week of January as well. It is almost like my body is on some sort of a time schedule, sort of like early spring cleaning of the upper and lower gi. I just hope it is not gall bladder. I did not have a fever so I figured it was probably a virus. It's funny, all of my posts went under "computer", who knew someday people would associate a virus more with a computer than a person!

I had a similar problem more than 20 years ago, the infection lasted for more than a week, and I became so weak that the doctors decided to put me on a continuous drip. Gastro is what they described it as. Not many medicines then as compared to now. Tough luck you had it.
