FDA approves first treatment designed to help slim down overweight canines. Is your dog over weight? Would you do have this treatment for your dog? www.boston.com/business/globe/articles/2007/01/06/for_the_pup_who_enjoys_kibble_a_bit_too_much/

No I wouldn't give it to my dog. I would be to afraid it will be like the diet pills they have approved for people then pulled the off the market. After more people used them they found out they caused heart problems. I would just put my dog on a healthy diet and excercise program.

I heard about this on the news last night. It is one of the most insane things I have ever heard. What are they going to think of next. If your dog is overweight, try cutting back their food, don't give them table food, and try walking the dog, or playing fetch with the dog, so it gets exercise. Giving an animal a pill for weight loss, that is controlled by the owner is in my opinion neglect by the owner.

Me and my parents were just talking about this while we were eating breakfast this morning and my mom was laughing. She feels that people are to blame for the dogs being overweight since we are the ones feeding them. It is crazy that they have diet pills for dogs and wonder if these pills are safe or not.I will take a look at this website. Thank you for sharing this information.

My dog is actually quite overweight, but unfortunately I highly doubt it can be easily solved by one pill. My dog has an overactive (or under active, not sure) thyroid gland, making him actually quite over weight. I'm not quite sure of all the details on it, but it means that the weight he actually has isn't all from fat, so he's not fat over weight...he's just naturally huge, I guess.
