Shopping at flea markets/yard sales

I can find nice almost new items as yard sales. I have bought exercise equipment that costs in the $100, but I paid $20 and $30. The lady I bought it from said she only used it twice. I also purchased really nice baby furniture for less than $10. I have relatives that always want my things or want to borrow it, but they refuse to buy 2nd hand stuff for themselves with their own money. When I tell them about a good deal I found, they will say I'll save up the money to buy mine new. As soon as I buy it, I get a phone call saying "can I borrow it". Does anybody know people like that or do you at understand how this gets on my nerves.

You know exactly how I feel. I bought a bun and thigh master for $15, the Toney Little Gisell for $25, and an verstible toddler chair for $7 and a sewing machine for $5. My favorite item to buy from yard sales are xmas items.

I shop at consignment shops. I try to find ones that keep rotating their clothes out because it can get boring going to look at the same things. I also look for stores that sell like new items for the most part. I don't want to waste my time looking through things that are stained or ripped.

Oh, I understand the frustration completely! I knew someone like that, and she was horrible. She'd always gripe and groan about buying things used and talk about how she'd just buy something new if she wanted it, but if someone else did, she'd always ask to borrow it. She drove us all crazy!

oh we must be related!! my family is the same way. i love yard sales and flea markets. they are so much fun because you can get great things for such great prices. they love the stuff i get, but think it is tacky to get second hand stuff. they are nuts!!
