Study finds ugly faces more likely to end up in mug shots

Not only are physically unattractive teenagers likely to be stay-at-homes on prom night, they're also more likely to grow up to be criminals, say two economists who tracked the life course of young people from high school through early adulthood. "We find that unattractive individuals commit more crime in comparison to average-looking ones, and very attractive individuals commit less crime in comparison to those who are average-looking," say Naci Mocan of the University of Colorado and Erdal Tekin of Georgia State University. What do you think?

This study does not surprise me. The better you look, the better society will treat you. Society ridicules and treat ugly and other so-called rejects so bad it is pitiful. Its no wonder that some people turn to crime. No one wants to be treated like a reject.

I am not at all surprised with the study's results. The blame is not on the ugly teenagers, it is on the society in general. The society treats the good looking and the beautiful with down right reverence. And down right shuns the ugly. Even the ugly ones at some point in their lives adopt this very attitude!!! Ever heard that nursery rhyme 'Chubby cheeks, dimpled chin...lovely eyes .... very fair etc'. That rhyme if read to an ugly kid, do you think it does any good to it? It will feel rejected and shunned. A rejected and shunned person is more likely to get into crime off course. Unless society accepts that beauty is just skin deep, this scenario will exist.

Here is another example of junk science. They probably sat down, looked at mug shots and compared them with ages...the lept to this "earth shaking" conclusion. The fact of the matter is NO ONE loks good in their mug shot. The lighting is horrible and most people have had a rough time of it just before being arrested or detained. This "news" also doens't take anything else into account but appearance. It doesn't balance itself with the conditions taht exist in society that cuts the life changes for those people who are not as physically attractive as others. This one is right up there witht he second hand smoke farce.

i think that this research may ne right but this is very hard to prove - it is obvious that "ugly" teenagers more often find violence and cruelty at school - which results in changes to the psychic. I would be very curious are there any research concerning how often good looking individuals get away with crime they have commited :) it's obvious that bad looking person will be punished more often for what they did than good looking person :)

i dont think so, that sounds like kinda racist against people, i could say the same thing, but with ugly people they are smarter than avge people, what would they say about that? i really have no proof neither, so it is not always true.
