do we benefit from what we eat?

Yes I do, but sometimes I don't eat much, like sometimes I don't eat breakfast. or eat 2 meals a day, Why I keep gaining weight I don't know.

YES WE DO BENEFIT FROM EATING BUT WITHIN A LIMIT AND THERE SHOULD BE CERTAIN BOUNDARIES FOR THAT

of course we benefit from all things we eat. If we eat bad things and cancerogen substances, our body tries to eliminate them...but we can get damaged from that. Instead if we eat natural and good things, every vitamin, protein, carbohydrates we eat, are assimilated and used to build bones, keep your body full of health, defend you from flu and illness, give you energies to stay alive, run, think, do your work! Of course we need to drink water too...because without water we can't live more than a week I supppose. Instead we can stay alive for a month without eating (only drinking water..) even if it's very hard
