Can hardware beat software, when it comes to music production?

Now i know u can program software in more ways than one, but u can also program hardware. I am using a software for production and i like the sound that it gives is good but hardware just sounds so much better, So could some one please help me with this because i dont wanna splash out on hardware if u can make software sound better!!

what do you mean by hardware? hardware synths, or analogue instruments? i'm making this new triphop track atm that contains both, i did my atmosphere, drums and some other synths on pc, and recorded my guitar and bass

imo a computer can be as good as analogue instruments, but why would anyone make a bassline with a synth, if they have a real bassguitar and recording hardware :D
