why people in us call their Mom and dad by their Names?

i dont know where you heard that but in michigan its not true.All we calling our parents by mom and dad.Have a NICE day everyone.

I have always called my parents mom and dad. I did however see a show on tv that said it is a good idea to teach your children to call you by your first name while in large groups if they get lost. They said that people would be more likely to respond to a child screaming their first name rather than mom or dad.

I always called my parents mom and dad. This world is changing so much, and not for the better. Less respect and low morals. So, I guess that is why some people are doing it now.

Manners seem to be going by the wayside here in the States. I though am one that always call my mother MOM or my father DAD. Never would dream of calling her or him by their given name. Also my children also called us parents their MOM or DAD.
