Are The Neopets Rules Unreasonable?

Being an avid Neopets fan, I often see some of the Neopets rules as unreasonable. For example, the rule about not being able to post offsite links. They are easy ways to get around that; post the link in an image, put it into a text box or divide the link up. Why not just allow them anyway and make it easier? Also the rule about not being able to post photos of yourself. They say it's for childrens privacy, but if they put something in the Parental Guidance form that meant they could not view the pictures unless they got that, then why not simply allow that too? As long as the poses aren't innapropriate, it doesn't really matter if you want to know who your talking to. Tell me what you think. ^^

I think the rules are fine since the site is mainly for children, anyways. There is so much controversy surrounding myspace and all that, I can see why they would want to stick with their rules. Although, I could see if it was more of an adult community like pogo or something...then the rules would be too much. I haven't run into any problems with Neopets rules, so I don't really find them obtrusive or anything.

Heh, I agree. I'm just saying what it was originally created for.

I think most of the rules are there for a good reason, the one I have a problem with however is no "pet sitting" another person's account. Say you're going out of town, the Advent calendar is going on, and you won't be able to be online for a day or so. Apparently it's against the rules to have a buddy go in for you to retrieve your Advent calendar stuff. Or feed your pet, Or collect your bank interest. I can understand *why* they have this rule, but most of us have one good friend that we'd trust, or a family member for that matter, that we'd trust to go in and not swipe all our neopoints and goodies. If I could get them to change just one rule, it would be that one. With a huge disclaimer on it that if you get hacked from your 'friend' you can't cry to TNT about it.

Exactly. That's another rule I hate. If you trust someone so much to give them your password, then what right does neo have to interfer?

I think that by that they're trying to both protect the people who may give their password away to someone untrustworthy (I think it may happen especially to the kids) AND make the site fair for everyone, because let's take two people, both away for a day of December, if the first one has a trusted person and the second one doesn't, it creates an imbalance which I don't think it's fair and probably neither do they.

i like neopets because of the different games that you can play on the site. i guess all the filters are there just to make it safe for kids.

Yeah, but I still think they might be able to slack off a bit.

Yes, that's one thing I do like. They don't just say the look for a good impression, they actually do it.

Same over here. I think most of them are reasonable, but some are just silly.

I think the Neopets rules are there for a reason, but I agree with EmmaWatsonLovers about the pictures and the websites, they're so annoying. Most rules, people usually have a way around if they're discreet, but if you're willing to gamble your account over a set of rules, nothings stopping you

A lot of the rules are terrible and people get frozen for stupid reasons. The neopets staff are basically just terrible at their jobs. I swear they picked out their staff at some 12 year old's birthday party.

The rules are alright, but they should be enforced properly and find out whether people are actually breaking the rules before they freeze them. I've been frozen for auto-buying restocking, thats just actually ridiculous as I never restock. Maybe they find it weird that I can make so much neopoints without restocking and are jealous??!
