Is it possible to reverse Diabetes?

I was reading a book from a doctor that claimed that people that have become Diabetics may be able to reverse their condition. Can any one confirm this?

I guess I have to agree with you never heard any claims that they have reversed diabetes completely maybe manage their condition to stop the disease from progressing.

my mom's a diabetic, too, and she was told that once a diabetic, always a diabetic. the most she could do is to control it by medications, diet, and exercise. but who knows? i mean, with all the progress in medical technology, scientists could find a total cure for diabetes someday. and i hope it'd be soon.
