church why?

Church is a place where believers join to pray God together. And, yes, there are people who pray in public places, at the right time, wherever they are, they kneel to the ground and prey: they're Muslims. And, no, religion does not start wars: all religions ask for peace, it's ideology that starts wars. There are no religious books invoking war, there are *some* people who invoke holy war, but they do it because of political reasons (they are against western countries), not religious reasons (they are not against Christians); and most religious people, if not all of them, ask for peace.

I don't talk to myself in church either, but I do pray to God in all kinds of places, be it public or private. Religion does start wars, but faith is a different matter entirely. It stirs hope, heals, provides purpose, comforts, and guides. You look at me and think I must be crazy to talk to God, but I think you must be crazy to deny Him. Why cut yourself off from such amazing power and love?

Have you ever "turned" to God in time of fear or uncertainty? Guess what! I have talked to myself. Sometimes, I talk aloud when no one's around. But, I believe in God; I trust in God, and I have a relationship with Him. If there IS a Judgement day, and you've lived your life choosing not to believe, you'll have a lot to loose. If there's no Judgement day, and I've believed my whole life, I'll have NOTHING to loose - speaking on eternity, that is.

im not religious, but i wouldnt put it down so much, alot of people use religion to get by, it can give a sense of belonging, and thinking someone is protecting you can put you in a better frame of mind. however there are extremists who take religion too far! and also i dont think it is right when some religions put it in your face!

Oh my, you sound so angry. I'm sorry, you feel about Jesus, God, Church etc. the way you do. It's different when you have a relationship with your God, and you know how he has touched your life and the lives of people around you. I have never known joy, peace, hope like I have since I believed. And I think its sad for you, we often times mock that which don't, can't or choose not to understand. And you know if I'm wrong and your right and it's one great big fairy tale so what have I lost, but If I'm right and your wrong, oh my what have you lost. I am a living testimony of the hope and peace that anyone who desires it can find in God. God isn't asking you for relegion, He asks you for a relationship, big difference :) best wishes, I hope you find whatever it is that you are looking for :)

People of similar beliefs tend to worship together, that doesn't mean their faith is less when they are alone. People are all entitled to their beliefs and should be able to do so without scrutiny. There are religious wars, but that's because there are people like you who are too closed minded to live and let live without getting upset about it.......Oh, and when you're at a nightclub I'm sure you dance and perhaps sing along with the music....but just because you wouldn't do that alone in a park or public place by yourself isn't a testament that you are ashamed.

Wow, you are entitled to your Own personal opinion on this subject, but for me God is very important, but I do respect your opinion. But to me, there is such an importance as Jesus in my life, Heaven, etc. Maybe you have been hurt or something is why you believe this way, but to me my belief and Faith in God is everything, and is who I am. It is my whole reason for being here.

I love churches!!!i think church is a very calm,very relaxing and mystical place...I also love architecture of churches..I think the most beautiful church is in Koln germany,another one in Praga Check Republick,and the third one in Madrid Spain...I am sorry i am not going to church rarely..but i realy love atmosphere there...

Get a life. I have a life, I have life abundantly. And I'm not insulting you or your beliefs, so why insult those of us who do believe? You make your choices, you sleep in on Sundays, or spend time with family or whatever you do ... My family goes to church, we worship the one true God and we leave you alone. Perhaps you could stop and think about other's feelings before posting discussions meant to make fun of others who think differently then you do.

I myself dont go to church...i dont follow the bible.. all i believe in is a higher power. But i can understand why some people do go to church...they do it to have faith..i guess it sort of fills a void in their life..or it help them have hope that there is someone big and great in the heavens looking out for us. I try not to get caught up in religion discussions, just thought i would explain my views on why people go to church and praise god.

just a place were you can sit peacefully and think about you difficulties, with a hope that the cure is there..

until you have jesus you have no life,and yes i will do all that you ask except talk to myself, i would talk to god.i go to church to fellowship with god and the people in the church,to hear and learn god's word, so that i can do his will i believe in god because i know he is real in my life, had it not been for god i would not be here neither would you.god is my source of strength and power,he is my healer, he is my everything,(my help in time of sorrow, my friend,my peace,my hope for tomorrow, just to mention a few) if you have ever been sick be it known that it is god that brought about the healing, doctors are instruments used by god they cannot heal you. relegion does not start wars, people do.

god does exist.....and maybe a miracle will happen in your life to make you believe that he exists....

if i ever saw people sit in the park or a public place look at the sky, start singing songs, kneel down and talk to themself ... then i would think that it is their way to express their relationship with God. I go to church and do it because i have faith in it and that's my way to praise, give thanks, and worshiping God (trinity). Religion did not start a lot of wars, the extrem and fanatic believer that wrongly practice the religion does ...

Well God/dess gave you free will to choose what you want. So I hope you have a happy life believing in nothing. I'm not going to condeme you & tell you you're going to hell over it, because I don't like people telling me that about my beliefs. However maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge. And maybe you should be so freaking RUDE about it.

Church, meaning of the word is prayering place of christian religion.Christain people belived God is stay in church.

I think you better try to start reading Chapter 1 of Genesis of the Holy Bible. You talk of planets and they were created on the fourth day of creation. Just try then ask questions, challenge God who says He created all these things. See the origin of what you're saying.

Actually, yes, there are times when I look out at creation and can't help but praise God for it. I love to stand at the back of the barn and look off into the sunset. Everytime I look at a beautiful sunset, I think my God is the artist of that sunset. I love to watch the horses run around and play and I thank Him for them. Sometimes, yes, I just sing because He is so awesome and worthy of praise. I would hate to think that my worship of God had to be confined to a church building. While I love going to church and spending time with other believers worshipping God, I also love the fact that I can talk to Him anytime, anywhere and He hears. I don't have to kneel down to talk to Him. I don't even have to talk out loud to talk to Him. He hears my every thought before I think it. He is awesome! He knows my every need and He loves me.

only those who can feel the love, response,care,punishment that god has given to us can only express the belief to the lord. if u r affected by any sin that u hav made,then u can feel that god is watching u

People pray in public all the time. I used to pray with a group at the flag pole in highschool every morning. We do it in church for many reason, for fellowship to gather in agreement that God is going to move in our lives, so on and so forth. Why church? I'd be scared of a world without it.
