I am absolulely no doctor, but I don't imagine that pooping blood is a good thing. If this continues I would see a docter as soon as possible. I would suggest going to WebMD and doing a search on something like that to get more information.

I know the two posts above are trying to help, but please do not tell him this is probably an ulcer or a hemmorhoid. It sounds so much less serious than it probably is. Considering your other post about throwing up blood, it still sounds like he has a serious bleeding in his intestinal tract and needs to go to a doctor immediately. Go to an emergency room if he has to. There is a good chance he is bleeding from his esophagus and that could be potentially life threatening. It is not worth waiting until he is doing worse.

Yeah, I did told him this last night and he said he will set an appointment and get help right away but I don't know if he's being serious with me. So when he's off of work, I'm just going to take him to the ER.

Anal Fissure - Picture depicting an anal fissure which causes severe pain and discomfort in stool as well as accompanied blood
The symptoms you are describing could be caused by constipation, hemorrhoids, or an anal fissure (tear in the lining of the anal canal). You may notice improvement with a high fiber diet, lots of water and increased exercise. Any or all of these lifestyle changes would help. If you are not getting enough fiber in your new vegetarian diet, then this could be a contributor to your recent constipation problems. Also the less straining you have to do to have a bowel movement, the better. A personal experience regarding the same issue is of an uncle's. He also used to pass blood in his stool. He went in for an examination and it was found out that he had three boils at the end of his large intestine. A biopsy of the same was done and they were found to be cancerous. He had surgery done and 6 inches of his intestine was removed. After that even though there were no traces of the cancer spreading, he was advised kemotherapy. Today is his last day of therapy which has been going on since the past 3 months. He is fine now by the grace of GOD. I would suggest that you should not take this problem lightly and get a full investigation done by a doctor. Picture source adam.com

Yes, go and see a doctor as soon as possible. It could be one of many things. Is your friend under a lot of stress?
