Do some of us still prefer using snail mails? In what way you use this mailing type? Of course there is still some places here in the world that have no access in computers..

Tome there's nothing like getting a good old-fashioned letter or card in the mail, in the person's own handwriting, with maybe a photo or newspaper clipping in it. Getting a postcard from someone on vacation is fun too, especially if the person is in another country that has some exotic looking stamp that's on the postcard.

Yes, that's the most different and exciting thing in receiving and using snail mails. The stamps are also fun to look at, especially for those collector's who loves to add them on their collections. There are still place in the world that does not have internet, so this is their only means of communications to other people around the world.

There are new ways to send money now, especially coming from abroad. There are money transfer companies that caters quick receing and safety money disctribution, like Western Union and others.. It's really not a good choice to send money now from postal services, as there are always people who would like to grab on every opportunity to steal from other's belongings.

I am so far away from using snail mail that I have to think twice whenever I send an actual letter - how do I address it again? Even for invitations, I sent out my wedding invites of course, but for my rehearsal dinner I will be using evite.com, it's an awesome site. My sister just told me that she even uses that site when planning a get together with a few friends b/c it's just so much easier than phone calls. The only time I use snail mail is for cards where I wish to send a gift certificate, and that's about it! I do all my bills online now.

Email is more convenient now a days but still snail mail is more personal. I haven't send a snail mail for 2 years now since most of my family is here. I just email my friends most of the time, when i don't need to email them we chat online.

Most of the time, I will use email. However, snailmail brings with it the personal touch and I do send cards (Xmas, Bday) through snailmail to my closer friends.

That is good enough already, just try to use it every once in a while. Because there are also people who depend on this kind of method, mostly those who work or who's professions are on that area.

I think snail mail will be extinct in a few more years. One day I was teaching my EFL students about stamps and post offices. A girl asked me what a stamp was. Now, it could mean she doesn't know "stamp" in English, but after I translated to her, I didn't think she still knew what it was. How sad.

That is true, I can't imagine people are now more ignorant in using a snail mail. So, do you think we should stop using it and forget it's purpose?

i met my boyfriend online. and we email and chat for our communication. but we love to send each other handwritten mails. it's more personal and there's more effort to it (writing the letters, and mailing them to post offices). it's kinda expensive but the feeling of happiness upon receiving snail mails from him is so hard to explain. and i am so happy whenever he receives my mail since i know he's excited to receive some from me. so, the classic way is still better than today's fast and easy access because of the internet.

letters - just a few of the letters i received from friends
yep. that's so true. i always keep his letters in a safe place. good thing is, i can read the letters over and over again, seeing his penmanship, feeling the effort he had put into it just to let me know he cares a lot. that's what i love most in letter writing... the old fashioned way.

Olah!(",) So glad to see this post for the simple reason that I love letters!(",) There was a time in my life when we lived in Laguna for 5 years and then after my Mama finished her doctorate we went back to Mindanao. It's very sad to leave those friends and playmates who seemed so attach to me and those memories of my childhood but, what can I do? We really have to leave so, for us to get connected we promised to write letters. I was still in Grade 4 when we started exchanging letters and giving cards every birthdays and Christmas. I got boxes of letters from them. I like writing letters because it feels very comforting and I feel that I'm still with them and their presence in my life is still very evident. For almost 9 years were exchanging letters but now, not anymore. When cellphones and emails became popular, we seldom send letters through snail mail anymore. Just now, I am thinking of writing to them.(",) I missed receiving and giving letters. I think giving love letter to someone you care about still works. Have a great day!(",) God bless and take care always!(",)

i use snail mail only if i am being asked to do so i never send snail mail out if my free will because it is not necessary today with all of the computer technology. it is usually used if the bank or some other company needs me to send papers with the original signature and that can not be e mailed or faxed. and also when i want to do copyrights on some story that i wrote. i send snail mail to myself. because legally it is the securest way and prove that i wrote this script and no one else did.

That's a good practice, and indeed a very useful way of keeping your works secured. I guess alot of people now depends on computers, only a few people do make a good use of postal mails.

For me, it will really depend on the need of the speed that i need to communicate with the other person. But if speed was not an issue, i think using snail mail at this time will really be cool. I miss receiving snail mails as well. I used to be an avid visitor of the post office when i was young because both of my bestfriends went abroad. I miss waiting for the postman to deliver my mails- not that i had a crush on him or anything. I miss those bulky letters filled with stickers and other trinkets that you can get to put inside the envelope with your letter. Besides, if no one will use this kind of mailing facility- a lot of people will start to lose their jobs =(

That is my point here, because not everyone are benefitting by having computers and using internet. I also think about those people who depends in their jobs as working postal offices, as this is the only job that they try to feed for their families. If we feel that the message we are sending is urgent, then the most possible thing to do is use the internet.

I do most of my bill paying online these days but when it comes to chatting with friends, i do prefer the good old letter :) I have a few pen pals that don't have internet access so i can only reach them via snail mail - i'm sure i could call but international calls are kind of expensive. Plus, since i like to swap things with my pals - mainly gifts & collectables etc, i cant really do that via e-mail! I hope the postal service is always around it's so nice to be able to chat that way still!

No I haven't used snail mail in ages, except for official business, people who don't have email i keep in touch with using phones even if they are in another country, mail is just too slow and not efficient anymore.

I still use snail mail to some extent, but of course it has become a secondary choice and only used on certain occassions. My main use of snail mail is to send pictures on CD to friends and family, whereas it would be less practical to email them unless I compressed them and reduced the overall content.

I think snail mail or regular postal mail is great espically if it is a letter from a friend that lives out of town.

No, I hate having to use snail mail. Unfortunately I have a few friends that don't have computers. I also have a couple of friend that don't like to be on the computer, so I call them and tell them I sent email or tell them to go online to chat. I still use snail mail for paying some bills, but most of them I pay online. I wish everyone could have a computer. It would make life alot easier, I think anyway.

I don't use snail mail anymore. I just use e-mail. Good thing my friends and cousins who are in other countries have access to internet and computers. I think snail mail is not that reliable anymore unlike before when computers are not yet "IN". I think snail mails are good locally. When companies like telephone companies, cable companies etc send you your bill through snail mail.

i do prefer snail mails. my relatives living abroad use snail mails for communication aside from regular phone calls. sometimes, snail mails dont only deliver messages but emotions as well. im just tired of some post office people who keeps on opening letters thinking that it has money inside.
