I think I found this out with my first and tried not to buy things I didn't need for the second. totally needed: boppy pillow, swing, seat never used: wipe warmer, bottle warmer, diaper geneie - it always was smelling so I would just put it in a bag and run it to the trash thoughout the day, changing table - I found I was always changing the baby somewhere besides in her room. It became a place to store stuff. HALF of the Clothes I got and purchased! Even with my second. I was always saving outfits for special outings or such and you really don't take a little one out that many places, so Some still have the tags!

The one baby item that I could not live without is the travel swing. Its easy to fold and pack up, and I can take it anywhere!! The item I think is a waste of money are those baby wipes warmers. I mean seriously, why in the world would you need to wipe your baby's bum with a hot wipe? Does it really make that much of a difference? I can honestly say that even though I can afford it, I would never get one.

My favorite items are the swing, a sling or wrap, a bouncy. The things that are a waste...a Diaper Genie! Who uses those things? lol! TOys are pretty much a waste unless you stick with the old fashioned toys rattles and such. Babies do not need high tech gizmos.

I am a nanny for five children and oh my goodness some parent s think their kids need everything. I absolutely think that a swing for a fussy baby is great because it is soothing and it allows mom or me to relax without having to rock them all the time. I also recommend a bouncer for the baby because when they are small they play with the toys but as they get older they strengthen their leg muscles making it easier for them to learn to walk. I recommend a bouncer seat for some babies but this is one of those items that depends on the baby, if they love to be bounced then they would like it but if you bounce them on your knee and they dont like it a lot then getting a bouncer chair is a waste of money. I absolutely would buy little toys that stimulate them like rattles that are fuzzy or have different textures because they seem more interested in them. I would not buy the little bath book that are made out of plastic for them since all they are going to do is chew on them and either cut their gums or tear a hole in it and eat plastic.
