Why do smokers cant quit smoking or have difficulty quitting?

Most smokers cannot just simply stop smoking. Though the disadvantages of it is already known to them, still they cant let go of it? Please share your ideas why.

It's addictive, some smokers are just plain stubborn and generally objectionable

i have seen many of my friends who are smokers.they can't quit smoking although they vowed to do so. I think they are too addicted to it or it has become a habit for them

cos people keep goin on an on and on and on and on.. about the health risks whe WE already know what it does and how much its costing us.. but we still want to do it.. Me personally.. Im tired of some of the Whinging Non Smokers especially the ones who USED to smoke!!! The re-formed.. If people dont like us smoking.. then perhaps they should just walk away.
