How many of you play the lottery????

This is just something I don't get. People will say oh my God it's 20 million this week I gotta play. I ask them wouldn't you want to win 1 million and they say yes. Well then why do you have to rush when it's 20 million. I just don't see the reasoning in it. Now for me I don't play very often. I just think my chances are so slim. I was fortunate once about 10 years ago to win 2000.00 but nothing substancial since then. Do you play?? If so how much do you spend on any given week?

I choose not to play for moral reasons butthe truth is peopel are into the fanatsy it gives them a "high" to just think for one moment they could be debt free, take that dream vacation, pay off their home, buy their parents a new home, and stop working, and still have money in the bank.... So they go for it for the simple cost of 1 or a few tickets. See the lottery sets you up for failure, like you said 10 years ago you were luck and won 2000 bucks, some people wind up spending that ammount before they ever "win" it back, so really they are playing for the chance to get their $$ back, others play only when they have numbers in their dreams or other special numbers that come up, beliveing its the bodys intuition to guide them to do so...like I said I choose not toplay only because the Bible speaks against getting rich quick- which to me means avaoid lottery, poker, all the fun things most peopel see as harmless games (horse races, bets, you name it- I avoid it)

We play the lottery every week now that my husband is in charge of buying tickets. I would tend to forget so he took over. We buy whether it is big or small. I think people just tend to talk about it more when the jackpots get big and probally more people will buy tickets that don't usually. In Canada we don't have the big payouts like the states get regularly. Our highest jackpot to date I think has be 54 millon. That was won by a group of people in Alberta. We spend 6 to 9 dollars a week on the lottery. We play for sure every Friday and Saturday. If my hubby is in the store on a Wednesday he will pick up tickets for that nights draw. The most we have ever won on the lottery is 10 dollars. I like break open tickets myself. they are 50 cents each. I have won 300 dollars, 100 dollars, 50 dollars lots of times. I don't buy them alot though. They can be addicting.

Linda345, do you play any on-line lotteries? There are a lot of free ones, and while the odds are probably no better than on the lotteries that we have in Canada, there actually are some where you can play for free, accumulate your points and then convert them into cash. I just joined one that I log into and keep the window open, because it is available 24/7/365. Each time I pass the computer, I play the lottery. In 3 days I have accumulated about $5 worth of points, which is not bad. When I get to $25 I can redeem it for a Walmart gift certificate, if I want or keep playing until I have enough to buy something worthwhile.

i play it but just for fun thats all, i don't get into it thinking that i am going to win something when there are millions of people playing it so my chances are really slim or to none. but i just play it for a little fun thats all. I might spend nothing but five bucks a week thats all. Its not that important to me because i have a good job that pays well and as long as i am taking care of my bills and stuff like that i am fine. I don't need to be getting so deep into playing the lottery like most people do who would spend at least near 50 dollars a week trying to figure out what numbers to play.

I always hated the concept of the lottery..however, I might play here and there..my mother used to play like 10 bucks a day...give me those scratch-offs instead any day..I want to know if I won my money back then and there..it just seems like one big waste to me...

I dont play in the lottery because your chances of winning are so low. There are billions of people that play the lotttery which makes it very hard for you to win but if you do win you are very lucky because msot people wont eveb get 1million in there whole life time.

I do not play the lottery unless it gets way up there. My parents have played the lottery religiously since the first day it started here in Florida. I figure they will win before I do, and if they win, I'll get some of it. So I will just wait patiently for that and spend my dollars on taquitos and donuts instead.

Well, the reason we play is so we don't wonder "what if" later. If you buy a ticket, then you just lose a dollar at the most. There are also lots of small prizes that you can win if you buy the powerball. If you don't buy a ticket, then you will always be wondering thinking "it could have been me." There's still the slim chance that you might get lucky

My husband tries to buy a ticket atleast once a week, you cant win if you dont play, but we never spend more than $3, usually two instant tickets and one Super Lotto or Mega Millions. I know what your saying about people..."oh I gotta play cause it's 25 million this week, duh, everyone's playing cause its 25 million so your chances just got fewer of winning.....I have a lot of dreams of winning the lottery....I heard if you actually see yourself doing something then it can actually happen, so far my dreams have not come true!

First of all, a huge congrats on winning 2,000 dollars on the lottery! Wow! I personally am too frugal of a person to go out and do something like buy myself a lottery ticket. The only way that i would probably play is if someone bought a ticket for me, lol. I also don't understand why people rush out to win the really big jackpots. After all, if they are rushing out, don't they realize that hundreds and thousands of other people are also rushing out to buy even more tickets at that time, thus giving them even _less_ of a chance to win? Your odds of being struck by lightning are so much greater than ever winning the lottery. I personally will stay away from it as long as I can keep myself from spending money on something that might not gain me a cent.*laugH*

I don't play that often If i'm in the store and see the lottery counter, then I'll usually buy a couple of tickets...never go out of my way though to play no matter how big the jackpot.
