Glucosamine sulfate is a "natural" product and, as such, has not undergone the stringent testing required by the FDA. For this reason, there are no documented side effects but it is known to cause intestinal discomfort in some people. Anyone who is allergic to shellfish or sulfur should not take this product as it is derived from cartilage. If you are diabetic, hypoglycemic (low bood sugar), pregnant or on any prescription medications at all, be sure to clear this product first with your doctor. (I'm an R.N.)
