why have we in america become so bored with violent crime that it no longer matters unless it involves us directly? i just read where a man severed the head of his four year old daughter and left the decapitated body and head for the mother to find..this sickens me to no end..where is the public outrage at these hedious acts?.. how can we weed these people out before they cast their evil upon us? and what about all the gang murders related to drugs?..many innocent people are caught up in these shootings.. should we give the police more power? my suggestion would be for the mayor of a city to tell the police, "this weekend, clean up my city."..the police know where a lot of these people are but have their hands tied by liberal restrictions.. granted, this would not have prevented the first case i described, but all in all, we have to start somewhere..

In reading through your posts, and just by your screen name alone, it seems as though you have had some deep personal trauma. Perhaps the trauma of hopelessness in knowing that "one tiny step" toward solving all of our problems is not enough. It is going to take everyone taking that one tiny step, and how in the world do you organize a feat of that magnitude - just one tiny step - and it's a virtual impossibility to achieve! How sad is that? How frustrating is that? I wish that I had an answer for you; but I ponder the same questions and feel very much the same emotions. I want to do something - but what? ~Donna

Your re america, just for matter of fact to earn a livelyhood and flourish and make money, just ignore the vilonce and crime that going on, since we can have no control over the government in any case, so just forget it, so just live like the romans, where u re live like them, don't worry unnecessarily.

A city near me actually did that the week before Halloween this year. All extra hands took all the warrants and make an extra effort to get the criminals behind bars before the kids came out trick or treating. But even that was just people with outstanding warrants. It is difficult to know what to do with crime, because the balance between protection from crime and protection of rights is so precarious.

I saw that article too. I think we have become numb to violence unless it affects us. There is so much of it on tv, video games and everywhere, that people just don't think it's that big of a deal any more. You see people shot on tv shows constantly, so if someone is shot in front of you, it's almost like you've seen it before! I come from a very small town and there isn't a lot of crime here, but we did have a murder of a dentist last summer. It was unbelievably brutal and while those who knew him were shocked and understandably upset, others just acted like it was no big deal... That's sad.
