Picking the best response on your Mylot discussions

I have been on the Mylot website for a couple of months now and I'm finding it harder to pick out a best reply to my discussions. Not because the answers are all poorly written or thought out, but because the quality of replies I'm receiving for the most part has really gone up! Just want to say thanks to everyone for their thoughtful replies, and that I do enjoy reading the discussions here. I just went through my unresolved discussions and had a lot of difficulty figuing out which might be best for the number of really good replies I've received. Cheers!

Choose the first one you come across that you believe is the best. If you have multiple answers that you believe are possible candidates then it all comes down to whoever was the quickest.

I found at the beginning I was chosing the best response too soon. The a really good one would show up and I could only reply and give a positive ranking. So now I wait a good while before I evaluate the response. I am glad to hear you are getting responses that make the choice tough. That means people are taking some time to say what's on their mind and that's what I am here for.

Thank you! I too try to wait a few days to a week to see how many replies I may get before marking best response.

I still get a few of those one sentence answers, but for the most part, am getting really good responses also. I like to wait awhile...mostly because my discussions don't really take off like wildfire...LOL...I have to wait a little while to accumulate some answers on some of them! I usually get several really good answers and then there will be one that stands out...they give extra information I found interesting or they really caught my attention and made me go "hmmm". It is all subjective and needs to really relate to your discussion.

True! I try to wait a few days as well. Sometimes I'll get a reply a month later. Cheers!

i had the same problem in the beggining. i had disscusions with only 1 or 2 responses few days in a row so i thought i wasn;t getting new ones and felt a little responsable to mark 1 of them. i was so wrong. i also had disscusions with alot of answers and i found more than 1 really good. how was i supposed to decide only upon 1 of them? now i judge things differently. if i have disscusions with only 1 or 2 responses, and none of them seems to stick to my heart i don't mark any. on the other hand if i have more than 1 response that seems good i read them over and over again, and finally 1 will fit with what i was looking to find out in my disscusion and the comments from that person will touch my heart in 1 way or another. if the response someone gives to 1 of my disscusion shares something that influences me i mark it as the best even if he's the only one who asnwered. good luck in finding a way to mark the 1 best response as the best :)

Good to know that people take so much of stress to pick out the best response.

I do take it seriously in that I know how much time it can take to type out and think of a really good reply. So I appreciate it. Thank you!!!

I have had this problems many times especially when the discussions suddenly seems to start up again after a few weeks. I am leaving mine for a while and then going back but isn't it niceto have a good choice. Some of my friends leave very thoughful and caring answers which make me glad I am here!

I tend to wait a few weeks before I pick the best response. That way, you get more of choice. I agree that sometimes there are several very good responses and it's hard to choose. I tend to mark one the best, and rate the others with a +.

I agree. I think the quality has improved alot. What I always do though is RATE all my responses, that way they all get some credit for it. The best response I just pick the one I feel is the best.

I do that too. I give the other comments a positive. Makes me feel better for picking just one best response. Cheers!

That is a great reason for not being able to pick a best response, I am so glad that the quality has gone up!! I usually pick the best response by weighing the factors. #1 Do they accentuate my point, give a great discussion? #2 Do they entertain mee? #3 Are they origional? #4 Do they make a great point? or if all else fails #5 Are they my friend? Thank you for the great discussion, since unlike the responses these are mostly low quality. Have a great day!!

I would like to know on what parameters like quality discussions, standard of language, presentation style, apealing, you want to judge the best response. I don't think all the myLot users are not upto the mark as expected by you. Very few users may be not upto the mark. Have you responded to other's discussion? what is their opinion on your expressions?

I have had a good response to my own replies and I appreciate it when I have gotten best response, which is why I try to reciprocate within my own.

I have been getting some really excellent replies to my own discussions this last two weeks or so ... some very well thought out .. and some with really helpful content ... To start with there seemed to be a lot of one word replies .. or replies with nothing to do with the topic .. but since MyLot has done the 'big clean' up the quality has really rocketted .. And yes, how do you pick just one reply for 'best response' when so many are good .. I give very good replies a + rating .. and it's so hard to make that final choice for best response ...

Yes, I've noticed that the one liners or one word replies are getting more rare too. Cheers!

I have not been here as long as you but to have noticed the same thing. When I first started I tried handing them out within a few days, but now there are so many good ones that it is real difficult and it usually takes me a few days longer just to chose between all of the good ones. I am with you everyone deserves a pat on the back for doing a great job.

I have found this to be true for some of my discussions also. Sometimes it is easy - like it was for you in the beginning. But others - some many people have such great things to say! Thank you MyLot community for making this place such a wonderful place to visit and discuss. Thank you MyLot for taking the time to weed out what needs to be weeded out!

I tend to wait a week or so before deciding who gave the best response. I agree, the quality of responses has gone up considerably and it is so hard to give just one responder the best response mark. I'm having a real hard time deciding who gave me the best response to one of my recent discussions, I have 7 people that I love their response, and cant choose...dont know what to do...so I may put their names in a hat and draw that way!!

Ya as the mylot members are incrasing... Most of the discussions have started to receive many responses and more the responses you get and it becomes more and more difficult for decicding the best responses. SO i dont know which response to choose and somethines i GO to the extent of breaking my head dont think i am boasting So i deceide and leave the discussions waitng for some more better responses....
