No Superbowl for the Eagles and I'm "kinda" glad . . .

But please don't beat me up until I explain why!!! Of course, I want them to win the superbowl, that's not even in question!!! But thinking of it from Donovan McNabb's perspective (perhaps), how would you feel if a backup qb came in and took your place and won a superbowl? You might be really glad on the one hand, but on the other, the next season might be a REAL struggle for you (him). It might even effect the way he plays the following year. It could have either a very positive effect on him or it could be very negative. Positive: He could say, "Alright, if Mr. Garcia can win a superbowl, then so can I!" And it might make just give him that impetus to overcome the struggles of the past several years. Negative: He could say, "That's it! A backup qb came in and did what I haven't been able to do. I'm done!" But I think McNabb would take the positive approach. Still, if they'd gone to the Superbowl, I'd hate to see McNabb miss out on the "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity.

I don't think he would quit. Something about piles of money... I was actually pulling for the Eagles because I think the team has played much better under Garcia. The running backs get played like running backs and everything isn't so lopsided towards the passing game. At the rate of McNabb's injuries over the past couple years, I'm sure a backup at Philly will get a chance again sometime next year... Until then, Go New Orleans!

Well first of all i wanted the Saints to win because of all the things New Orleans has gone through in the last year or so. Although I really like Brian Westbrook. He is one of my favorite players. But i doubt that McNabb would struggle next season if Garcia and the Eagles won the superbowl. McNabb is still one of the best QB's out there and even if Philadelphia traded him, all the teams out there would gladly welcome him. I must say that Garcia did an outstanding job while McNabb was out. Go Bears!!!

Personally, I am bummed that the Seahawks aren't going to the NFC title game. However, I am glad to see both the Bears and Saints battling it out for a Superbowl birth. How can you not root for both teams? Hopefully it will make for a great game...

McNabb is done anyway. This is the second season he has a season ending injury. This season before he went down, they were fighting it out with the Redskins for last place. McNabb goes down, Garcia comes in and takes them to the playoffs. If you are the management of the Eagles you gotta ask yourself whether it is better for the team to get rid of McNabb now and go with Garcia for at least next season, if not the long term.

All I'm gonna say is if the Eagle win or even get to the superbowl then you can expect to see either mcnabb or garcia playing for the raiders next year LOL

Cheers to all, at least there are gonna be some "barn burner!" Championship games this year! :) My goodness, when you think of all the absolute "YAWNERS" we've gotten to see, this year at least there will be some new "flavors" to experience! No way that I'm going to simply fall asleep with Chi-Town and The Big Easy going at it... And the Quarterback Shootout between Indy and the Pats? Whatcha gonna do for a more exciting weekend of TV than that??? To all the teams who never quite got to this point, I say: Good Going, and the very best of luck next year!

I think Ive given up on the eagles they do this all the time. They to a certain point and screw it up. Im done with them. I have to find a better team. Its not that I watch it because I hate football but my husband is a eagles fan and so I go along a root for them but not anymore.

I'M not "kinda" glad that didn't win that game!!! I am EXTREMELY glad they didn't win that game. I'm a Saints fan:) Puh on the Eagles, thinkin they can go to the dome and beat the mighty Saints, I thinketh NOT. :-D Now if the Saints just win NFC and the Colts win AFC, this will be the greatest Superbowl game known to man!

My husband's a big Cleveland Browns fan but the chances of them making it to the Super Bowl anytime soon is between slim and none. He'd be thrilled if they at least had a chance at the playoffs.

Sorry Philly. I watched Jeffy G last year and have to give him credit for taking you guys this far. I was hoping New Orleans would win. Just to give another team a chance to go to the big game that hasn't done so. Philly is ok, but I don't like those green uniforms. Like we say in Detriot every year by mid October, there is always next year.

Let me just say- Drew Bledsoe with the NE Patriots.. And Tom Brady! Brady came in when Drew was hurt-- Won the Superbowl... Who was starter next year?? Tom Brady-- Where is Bledsoe?? To Bills-- to Dallas probably to retirement next year! Glad the Eagles lost though-- Saints just feel right--

I do not think Donovan would have anything to worry about next season since he is still their starting quarterback and even if Garcia won the Superbowl, Donovan would still be the starter next year depending on if he is healthy enough to start the season. There is a chance that Garcia might not be back next year since he is a free agent. He probably would feel a bit awkward at first but if he is a team player he would support Garcia and his teammates. He looked pretty unhappy on the sidelines against the Giants. Hopefully next year he will stay healthy and be able to take the Eagles back to the Superbowl. I still love Donovan.

Those are very good points.I would hope he'd be positive about it but depending on his ego, probably not.It sucks they didn't make it.We were really routing for them to win but hey, there's always next year.

McNabb got them there before and as one of the leagues elite QB's will have a chance to do it again. There was a lot of talk on ESPN about a possible QB controversy if Garcia could take them to the Super Bowl and win it, but I don't think there would have been. McNabb is getting paid way too much money to be a backup and Garcia is at the tail-end of his career. It's kinda difficult at the moment to root against the Saints with all that they have been through.
