I want to lose 100lbs. What's the most effective way to do this without passing out from starvation?

Well, I haven't lost the weight, but I just started on my path to try to lose about 20 lbs. I started reading up a lot on it and the BEST advice as far as eating goes came from a chapter in the book "A Complete Idiots Guide to Healthy Weight Loss". I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I actually recommend this book so far. Anyway, the best advice in there so far has been to not just eat because it's time to eat or because you kinda have the munchies. Don't eat until your stomach tells you it's hungry. Then, you rate your hunger on a scale of 0-10. 0 is empty, like when you have a hunger pang, that means to eat. At 5, you're comfortable, at a neutral spot, not hungry or full. This is where you would want to stop eating your meal (even if the plate still has food on it!). 7 is full or when you start feeling pressure inside the stomach, means you're overeating and it's fattening. A 10 is stuffed (don't want this!) and you're really uncomfortable from eating, ya know, when you have to unbutton a button or two :0) So, basically, I've started catching myself when i head into the kitchen and I ask myself, how hungry are you? I often times find that I'm actually at a 4 or 5 and it's not that i'm actually hungry, but that I'm not used to not feeling "full". We shouldn't eat until we're full... but until we're satisfied. I don't really know how to explain this very well I guess... but I would recommend the book, you can get it from a bookstore or half.com or i'm sure a library might have it. Also, in addition to changing your eating habits, exercise is the way to go!! Even just a little 10 minute walk a couple times a day helps out soooo much! And, don't focus so much on the weight issue of losing 100 lbs, look at your health, how you feel, and inches lost! My mom is currently trying to lose about 60 lbs (she's lost 30 so far!) and she was noticing her pants feeling looser and had lost 2-4 inches on most of her body before she had significant weight loss. Remember, muscle mass weighs more than fat! And the more muscle you have, the easier it will be to burn off that fat! Good luck!!

I know how it feels to be one. I gained a lot of weight after giving birth and that was actually the hardest part of my post pregnancy stage. To accept all the changes in your body. But thank god i found the solution. After two years of trying I now achieved my ideal weight and back to my old figure again. If you wanna know how email me at melaine_8@yahoo.com. Hope to hear from all of you who want to change their lives. Goodluck!

I exercise regularly and take some diet. Losing weight really needs a discipline to achieve it.
