What is the best way to earn money while on internet?

Does any body have a way of earning money on internet that they have tested over time and has good payment with least payments.Is freelancing the best way or referrals or through ad sense .what do u suggeest would be the best way,because already i have lost some 1000Rs in some program which run on refferals i found it quite difficult,i can do some comp work but refferal is a thing i do after checking it out myself.What would u suggest,i would like to listen to experiences of you people.
