Hard to believe that this discussion was posted three years ago:) I think I will be very interested in the White House in Washinton, DC. After all, it is the centre of USA and I'd like to see how it really looks like. I love China

Yeah for some reason it just got picked up after three years and now people are responding to it... I even forgot I asked the question. One thing that is really neat about DC is that everything is right there. So if you are going to see the White House the Capitol Building is within walking distance as is the Smithsonian Institution, Washington Monument, WWII Monument, Vietnam Wall, and Lincoln Memorial. Great place if you ever come here. Thanks Zelo

Well, it has been a long time since I was last in Washington DC, but some of the sites I remember seeing and enjoying was the Lincoln Memorial, the Capital building, and the White House. I also enjoyed going to Arlington Cemetary, and seeing the Pentagon. I have a late Uncle who lived on Andrews Air Force base, and worked at the Pentagon so it was a wonderful experience for sure. Would Love to get back there some day to visit for sure.

Now this is someone who knows what she is talking about. You can go from the Capitol Building to the White House (well not anymore in car since they blocked Pennsylvania Ave. from cars) continuing west you would see the Mall then the Washington Monument then Lincoln Memorial. You would then go over the Potomic River into Virginia where you would see Arlington (a BIG place) and then south to the Pentagon. Beautiful in the fall when the cherry trees are blossoming! Thanks Zelo

I go to DC every year and my favorite place is the National Gallery of Art. I spend hours in there. I enjoy seeing the pictures of artists that I studied about when I was in college. I do visit the memorials, Capitol building, Smithsonian, Pentagon, Arlington, Mt. Vernon also because these are places I take my high school students each year.

It's a tie between the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Both were awesome and as soon as I get back up to north, I plan on revisited both. I would love to visit Ellis Island. I started researching my family tree and most of my relatives came thru there. My Mom says my great grandparents names are on the wall, but for some reason, I can't find them online.

I liked the Roosevelt Memorial the best. I never even knew it existed until a friend who lives in DC told me about it. It's gorgeous... lots of fountains & pools, and beautiful words carved into stone. Parts of the memorial are also tactile, and all of it is handicapped accessible.

The whole mall was amazing. The White House was a little bit of a dissapointment, i thought it would be bigger. It kinda seemed like an afterthought. But my favorites were the Capitol Building, the WW2 Memorial (it was so beautiful) and of course i loved the Lincoln Memorial. It was awe insipiring.

The White House is actually MUCH bigger than most of us imagine. Remember there is the main house and then there are the two wings (the West Wing is where the President works). This makes the 'house' a very very large place. What the public gets to see in it's tour is nothing compared to the enormity of it. Any house that has it's own Bowling Alley has to be big, and whether kidding or not Obama says he is going to put a basketball court in there. Thanks Zelo
