I look after a 10 year old boy. I have for the last 1 1/2. I have been really good to them. I have helped in a pinch like when he is sick at school I've gone to get him or when he falls in the mud at school I've taken new clothes up for him. She has many times asked me to keep him late or take him early in the morning. I have never said no and always been there for her. So she just contacts me now and says from jan 18 to feb 2 she basically won't need me because her mother is visiting. But if I could still pick him up and drop him off at her house that would be great and what would I charge for that???? Ok so she pays me 6.00 a day for picking him up at school and keeping him until 5:30. So what am I going to say 3.00?? 2.00?? I hate being put in this position. I am upset about this right now cause I don't think it's fair to drop this on me at the last minute. As little as the money is I'm a single mother and depend on it as part of my income. She wouldn't like it if her boss came to her today and said ok we don't need you for the next two weeks. Please let me know your opinions on this cause I just don't think it is fair.

She shouldn't ask you to lower the price. $6.00 is too cheap to start with. I would tell her that what you charge is really cheap compared to what other people would charge her and that you can't lower the price any because you are still having to pick him up and drop him off at home.

I think that u should tell her exactly how you feel, just say that u are counting on the money she is paying you (although it is VERY CHEAP, she could not get real childcare for three timesd that much. I do belive you shoudl say that u belive she is beeing unfair, still wanting you to pich him up everyday. If u do not feel comfortable, just tell her to pay you whatever she feels it worth, then u can also tell how much she is valuing your service!

six dollars a day is not much because the going rate is what 5 to8 dollars an hour. I think I would put out a notice for another kid to babysit. you could make more money. I would explain to her you don't think it is fair for her to do this to you at the last minute. You will pick him up and drop him off but you expect the same pay.
