What "beefs" might you have with the way mylot runs?

I recently had a discussion removed. I DON'T have a problem with that at all. Rules are rules. But what I don't "get" is why they remove and make no effort to explain why? I'm have lots of fun here but I think if they want us to "do" this as they want it, then they should at least tell us what was the issue to begin with. Another issue I guess i have is that there is STILL so many "what are you eating" kind of discussions littering this site. I make every attempt to push people's thought process with a more "lateral" approach to discussions, even on mundane topics. PULL ALL THE FLUFF! Then get "particular" with the rest of us. Please and thank you. Dissposition a mylot fan.

I had a beef b/c I just wrote up a response, pressed post, and it refreshed the discussion without my response! Plus, since I'm under 500, I can't copy/paste so I had to retype the whole thing. I also don't understand why some seemingly valid discussions disappear while other more "what's your favorite bagel" stay forever. So who knows how this site is run, I'm not even close to figuring it out.

grr, it happened again. I posted a nice detailed reply, and when I went to post it just brought up the discussion again. It's funny how they keep closing the site for improvements, yet everyday it seems the site actually gets worse.

This is the thing that sucks on mylot - there is a force working on this community called moderators but they work in so chaotic way and never leaves and explanations what and why they do :| it is very annoying. I can understadn that sometimes it is very difficult to keep everything go good in such a big community but well first delete the topic that obviously violate the rules and then try to delete the ones who barely violate the rules :)

well i think we must follow one rule while starting the discussion is our topic will give you some information to other!! now i think that posting related to such nonsense topics get deleted because i see abrupt change in my rating!! therefore i only post to such topics which make some sense!! you can give either '-' or '!' to such useless topics.. i agree with you that mylot should develop some system which sends personal mail in which all info about your deleted topic including the reason behind it is given..so that in future we should avoid it!!

I have lost points off and on myself, and they haven't told me why.

It would likely be impossible for an exact reason as to why your content was deleted. Perhaps it would be nice at some point if myLot were to send you an email with a generic response stating something in regards to your post being removed from the system.

There's nothing wrong with the "fluff". Occassionally people just want to drift in, have some fun and not be pushed laterally. You can avoid what you don't like and so can everybody else. Let's see if I have this straight. You feel that it's wrong to have your stuff removed without explanation when it violates rules. But you feel it's your right to ask for the removal of other stuff just because you don't like it. Never mind that it violates no rules and obviously others like it.

I don't want to complain. It is frustrating when I am trying to answer posts to my topics and the system does not work. I keep getting error messages to try again. It is a waste of time redoing the same things over and over. I think you should get an explanation if they removed a discussion. At least it would help you interpret the guidelines more closely. I was eating some pretzels, in case you were wondering..lol

I am also a victim of such removals. They just disappear. My approach is also to start some genuine discussions like you. I have gone through the instructions and'Dos' and 'Don'ts' too, but found no explanation. I have not understood the clause"This contains contents of a mature nature." What is this "mature nature". I think the reason lies here. Well! till I come to know about it, I am trying to be more careful.

The only trouble I've found with mylot is that there are other sites that pay so much more that people are leaving mylot to join. I'm doing it, too. Since most are here for the money, it's only natural that that will happen. There are a ton of people I met on mylot who are now at this other site.

I don't like how they say flame wars are against the rules, yet they don't delete personal attacks. When someone calls you an out right tramp, and it is reported by a number of people, it should be removed at least. They don't touch them or the poster that wrote it. That makes me mad.

Yes I noticed that you had a discussion and it was removed there must of been something violating the rules, have you read the rules on mylot, so why would they explain further. I have never seen any discussion that says what are you eating so I must of been lucky.

I'm really sorry that one of your discussions dissappeared! It's really difficult for me to understand why Mylot would remove one of your (very thoughtful, I might add) topics instead of all of those fluff ones that you were talking about. Someone must have posted something outside of the guidelines or something that caused them to take it down. I know for certain that it cannot have been your topic itself that was objectionable. Also - I thought that I had a topic dissapear once, only to wake up the next day and find new replies to it. Maybe Mylot just took it down to review something, and it will reappear again eventually? ^_^

Its the Mylot gremlins that come out every now and then to play. You can always send a message to mylot, they might let you know what the problem was. I have had a few problems today, I tried 3 times to post a picture and when I tried to upload, everything just went poof and was gone.

I agree with you. The best thing to do I guess, is read the guidelines and read what they ask from us.

I just have a few things to mention that I noticed. This is more for the posters. I have seen alot of critics in here. I think you may want to know that some people in here have very serious vision problems. It is not that they arent educated or any less intelligent , they just cant see as well as you do. They may have a few typos but if they are trying their best to be a productive part of mylot then I can bear with it. I am the worlds worst about typos if I type before coffee. It is terrible and I am guilty of it and I know it. Theres nothing wrong with constructive critisism but I see people repeating the critisisms after they tell others not to repeat their posts. All of the critical posts have been posted and reposted and posted again. They are asking others to use search and they wont use search. Some people have felt and said they are uncomfortable trying to post because they are so worried their topic will be scrutinized. I was raised to say thank you when someone says or does something nice. I dont really feel that anyone should be looked at as a violater because they are polite. What is the difference in saying thank you or using some other words to express your appreciation for the post, which is still just another way of saying thank you ?

I've never had that happen to me. And hopefully they don't remove this discussion either. I agree with you that if they're going to remove a discussion, they should inform the person and then explain what their reasoning was behind it. Sometimes there's misunderstandings, and the sad thing about them removing it without explaining why, is that you don't get to explain your side of the story. Anyways, I agree about the food one, although I think I've been guilty of that discussion myself a few times. But I think I'm learning as I go along.

The Truth is Mylot shouldn't delete any Discussion, they eventually will be sent all back, but can still be accessed one day. What if they delete an important topic, and another person looked and looked and finally decided to make a new discussion, but there was a same topic as created before. yikes.
