Should Barry Bonds be elected into the Hall of Fame?

I'll tell y'all straight up. I am no Barry Bonds fan. I do not believe that anyone that obcessed about their body and body image, would not know what is in 'the cream' or 'the clear'. What a load of crap he tried to sell. But now is now. He is posed to break the all-time record this year if he can stay healthy and if he can still smack the home runs. I hope with all my heart that he doesn't; I hope that last year was the start of a serious decline in his skills. But that's pie in the sky dreaming. Assuming he does or even if he doesn't, should he be elected to the hall of fame? Mark McGwire didn't even get a decent sniff this year and we all know his numbers. And when baseball was reeling from the greed of the players and owners having public money squabbles, BigMac carried the sport on his back for months. Still, the voters gave McGwire a message that shoulda sent chills down Barry's spine. when his time does come, do you think he deserves to be in?

Well i am going to tell you that without a positive test it will be tough to convicne some voters that he should be discounted because of allegations of steroids. Im sure some voters will never put in on their ballot, but i will say he will likely go in at least on his second ballot and this is why: His stats really speak for themselves he has done everything: He is the top in both career walks and intentional walks. I am guessing by the end of the year he will be the home run king. He is 6th in career on base percentage, slugging, and runs scored. With a good year he will be just the 4th player ever to 2000 rbi's. If he plays 2 seasons he will have over 3000 hits which has been an automatic ticket in the HOF, he also has over 500 steals. He won 7 NL MVP, 8 gold gloves, and 12 silver sluggers. There are many other stats he is about 3-7 in the career rankings including total bases, extra base hits, runs created, triples, and OPS. Many opinions will vary but his resume just speaks for itself. I hate to admit it but bulking up 35 pounds or whatever he did doesn't really help you hit nearly 300. career or help you steal over 500 bases.

What you say is mostly true, but it is also true he never hit that many home runs in a season until he started using the juice (sic). Also, while you may not think it plays a role in Hall of Fame selection, it does matter to the selection committee. Don't think so? Then go ask Mark McGwire.

Barry Bonds should be elected and in fact, should be inducted to the Hall of Fame, because not just the fact that he surpassed Mark McGwire's previous all-time record for home-runs in a season, but he's also looking to get the most home-runs in a baseball career. With a new contract with the San Fransisco Giants, Barry Bonds will surely get the desired number of home-runs to be the new all-time home-runs leader.

Well, I agree with simplytraffic about the records but I also think that baseball needs think long and hard about what the Hall really means. If you're going to keep McGwire and Bonds out for steroids you HAVE to let Buck O'Neil in just for what he did for the Nego League history. Does baseball really want to be the moral compass for America? As for whether Bonds, etc., should be in the Hall. . . it DOES kind of smack of "not earning it square", doesn't it?

I can agree with you when I say I am no Barry Bonds fan either. He is arrogant and definitely not classy. No, I also don't think he should get into the hall of fame either. I mean a homerun is a homerun, steriods or not, but if a player is accused of taking them and has not come out and said so, it makes it sort of obvious they were cheating. Mark Maguire was silent after his accusations of taking steroids, so if Big Mac doesn't get into the hall of fame, then Barry probably will not either.
