Still looking for my perfect job

OK so here is my dilemma....I am 26 years old and still have no basis for a solid career. I have bee through various jobs. I have worked retail, banking, food service, house keeping, cahsiering, and I even went to school for a year and a half. I cannot seem to find "my calling." I find that I get bored and tired wiht every line of work that I come across. I am a single mom and went to school and did well, but I just didn't have the time to put into my studies that I would like. I was wondering this....how can I find where I truly belong in the workforce? How many of you are bored sick of your work but you don't look any further than what you all ready have? How long did it take you to find what you were really looking for? I am of course looking for a steady income, but moreso I want to find a job/career that I don't lose interest in-and one that doesn't physically tear me apart. (I am currently a housekeeper and it is does no favors to my body each and every day.)

It only takes a little time to decide a right path for you if you think with focus and centered mindedness. Just sit alone for little time and recollect what is the thing which you really like? Which makes you happy and excited? What is the thing which you are doing and you enjoy? Once you comeup with that thing thats it. That is thing where your happiness and interest lies. Make doing that as your career and you will never loose interest in it.

Seems like very good advice but pretty vague at the same time. I almost always enjoy my job for several months after I start working. Then something happens and I am not interested anymore and I eventually quit. I enjoy my job now, but it is very physical labor work-I kepp houses for people and although the job itself is easy and I work with great people, I am getting burnt out because I am always so worn out at the end of the day. What do you do for a career? Were you lucky enough to find it right away?

Well yes, I have my interests and know what I would like to do, but the act of achievement and actially getting the proper training or references is another. Another hard battle I have come across is my children and child care issues. It is very hard to find work here that allows me the hours given in my alotted childcare. I just want to find something that keeps me going-and I know that I am making a difference somehow. I have though of online work-as an aspect of a customer serive-which broadly is what I enjoy out of any job. Online work just seems so risky-especailly the ones that require money up front.

I think you didnt got what I said. I didnt said what you like to do for a shorter period. I said Think what you like the most in which you never loose interest. Like I am a softwasre professional and when I was at your stage I was thinking what to do. Then I came up with that my interest lies in computers and I can sit on computers for long long hours and enjoy working on it without lossing interest at any point of time that was the thing which made me decide to take it as career. Similarly you have to sit and think what is the thing which you like most in which whatever happens you can never loose interest. May be something like being with kids and caring for them. If you can never loose interest in this and like it most then having a business of day boarding can be best or may be working as primary teacher can be good. Like this you have to come up with what you like the most in which you can never loose interest whatso ever happens because that is where you interest lies, may be its your hobby, its you favourite time pass. If you like travelling work as a travel consultant you will never loose interest. I think you got the idea what I actually mean.

I think most of the employee have the same thinking like yours. Sometimes we feel bore with the things what we are doing, sometimes we want to have a better level of our career.I think no wrong with that, everybody feel and think just the way like you,but if we must to quit from our current job, we have to think it over.I mean we must decide it with second think not emotional think.Because it will make you regret someday, regret is no use right?because it has happened already we can not cancel what has happened. However,if once you feel bore with your job, you better think this, how about if you unemployed?how many people outside that unemployed and still search for the job while they don't have money and feel useless in this life?

But that is exactly what I am looking for-satisfaction on the job. What do you do? Have you had trouble finding you special place in the work force?

You probably need to be self-employed in a business that has a lot of variety and freedom. You already have a wide range of experience that you can apply a lot of ways. Make a list of things that interest you and see what kind of businesses would fit those interests.

Hmmm I have always thought of running my own business but no one else has ever said I should!! Do you run your own business? If not, what do you do?
