And it is a big concern especially for those of us who have children and grandchildren.
I just received an email from a family member giving me the link to a website that shows 'registered offenders' and of course I just had to check it out to see how many offenders there were or were not in my city.
I was shocked to find out that there are 327 offenders in my city alone and 33 of them are within 5 miles of where I live and that doesn't count the offenders that aren't registered. Makes me feel ill but I guess it helps to know these things.
A lot of you probably already know about this site but for those of you who don't you may want to check it out. It gives the pictures, names, descriptions, and addresses of offenders. The site is FamilyWatchDog.us

we all need to be aware of where these people are. how else are we supposed to protect the kids today?? we need to watch not only our own kids but to keep an eye out around the schools and playgrounds for anyone who looks suspicious.

You are right about that. After looking at all the pictures of the offenders in my area the other day I noticed that I have seen some of them a few times walking in the neighborhood. It does help to know who they are.

I signed up for them to send me any alerts when an offender moves in my area, and there are lots. It is a great source to have out there because, this way, you will know who lives in your neighborhood and who are the good people and the bad. This is a great way to let your children know as well. You could show them the pictures of these men and women so that they will know to stay away from them, or maybe even point them out if they ever try to do something to them. I would highly recommend everyone to do this, whether you have children or not, because it even lists the ones who have sexually assaulted or raped adult women (and men).

How true all of this is. I would rather know who all of the offenders are in my area are even if nothing ever happens. Thanks for your comments.

I too was surprised at the amount of offenders in our small area. It is wise to check out the site to keep yourself aware of what is going on around you.

I too watch where the offenders are. One just moved, supposedly, off this road we live on. I work outside the home and am concerned that things could go wrong. It pays to know where they are since we can sometimes prevent the meeting, the temptation. I have shared the link with my friends and will anyone else that has a concern. Forewarned to forearmed.

It is good information to have and families can't be too protective of their children where this issue is concerned. I looked further into my area and there are 8 within a 3 block radius of my home but not on my street. Seeing the faces of the offenders helps to know who to look out for too. Never seen any of their faces before until now so it seems they aren't out walking around the neighborhood. I had no clue that there were so many of these people.

Thanks , I didn't even realize threre was a site out there that anyone could check . The idea of having all those offenders in your area is rather scary to think about . I will definitely be checking out that site .

wow that is amazing and scary at the same time. its a shame that our kids have to live in fear where when we were young we where all over and it was some what safer than now.thanks for sharing the site with us parents on here, we all really appriciate you
