Can anyone give me info about Atlanta and/or the surrounding area?

I am interested in relocating to the Atlanta area, but I don't know where to start. Where are the best schools? Which are the best neighborhoods? I've heard good things about Conyers and Covington. I want to be close enough to commute to Atlanta, without the congestion, traffic and crime of a big city. I don't have a job yet. I've sent some resumes and posted some apps, just hoping I'm shooting for the right area. Any suggestions?

I'm from Atlanta, lived there all my life until 12 years ago. In fact, lived just outside of Covington. It's a beautiful area, and when I lived there was really nice..of course, it's been seveal years, but te area around Jackson Lake is really nice. However, if you mean that you don't want traffic where you live, that may not be possible. You're going to have to put up with traffic I'm afraid, even if you're going to the Covington area. I wish you luck, I really miss my Georgia home, it's a beautiful place, with wonderful people. Let me know where you decide on...

My brother just recently bought to homes in ATL and I myself am looking to purchase a home there in the future. You might want to visit a site called homelifecommuties.com they can give you info on the communities and schools in the area as well. Good luck!

It depends on who and what type of scene you want to be around. I eventually would like to move to Buckhead or Midtown because there is more wealth in those areas. Dont get me wrong, these is wealth in conyers and convington, but it is too far spread out. Atlanta is one of those cities that depends highly upon people networking. Go to sistercircle of Atlanta.com, ( i think or just type it in a search engine) and start to network with people. If you dont want the congestion of a big city, I live in Sandy Springs, ga 400 N off of the Northridge exit and traffic gets bad on 400 but I'm about 15 minutes from the city in a nice surburb. Even if you lived out far like in convington and conyers, you would go CRAZY trying to get to atlanta. Traffic is worse for people who live out there. What type of work are you looking for and where r u from?
