What do you think about reality tv? Do you find it cool to watch or do you ignore them? The shows im thinking of are you know, Survivor, Big Brother, things like this? What do you think? Personally I think reality TV should have died off after the first season of Survivor. Now its just old news. I mean the same stuff over and over, but with different people? And American Idol? That was cool on the first run, but now it seems they only run it so they can make fun of people. Simon Cowell needs a REAL job. What do you think folks?

I don't watch any of them, I find them mind numbing, I'd rather watch something intellectual, or a good movie. To me it's cheap entertainment

I agree I don't like reality shows as a general rule. I have seen a couple that weren't bad but for the most part why bother? Get rid of them. They are all popularity contests and not real like they pretend to be. Some do seem set up to embarass or ridicule the contests. I don't understand why people watch ones like that. It doesn't make sense to me.

Reality shows is kind of a trend these days, it seems that it will continue for a while longer but I'm sure it will die out one day when the next trend start, when it started it was something new and strange but as you say the whole concept is dying out as it lost the "novelty" factor, I still enjoy "Survivor' and random episodes from other shows but basically it's kind of guilty pleasure, I hate that it always about "conspiring" and setting people against each other, is the "elimination" factor is the message that we trying to give to the younger generation? i mean not the best who survive/continue to the top but the one with better "connections" and more cunning. after all I don't see much reality in many of it anymore, there's much "pre scenarios" in it for better "thrill" whatever that may be.

I think reality shows are a pure waste of air space. What make the producers think we don't have something better to do with our time? Big Brother? Watching people insult each other? It looks like a college dorm. No, I do not watch them, but there are plenty of commercials for them. It almost seems as if no one can write any scripts for show anymore. Lets get those creative juices flowing and get some interesting shows on the air. I'm a Celebrity Get MeOut Of Here? Some people will do anything for money. Are their careers failing and they need to be on the screen again? Are they afraid we will forget what they look like? Well, most of them I have never even heard of!

I like most reality shows I will not miss survivor or amazing race those 2 are favorite and my youngest son his is survivor, I like the first part of american idol and then that is enough for me. As for Simon Cowell I think he could be a little nicer be judges more on apearance sometime I think.

I am not the least bit interested in reality TV. If I want reality I'll leave the house and go out into the real world. Reality TV, in my opinion, is for people who are not brave enough to do what I have suggested above.

I've got to say that I love American Idol. But I hate the rest of the reality shows. There are too many and in my opinion they are getting worse every time a new one comes out. I think they have taken over the good t.v shows. Like Charmed and friends and good shows like that they took off the air and are replacing them with these stupid reality shows. We have a channel on Directv called Fox Reality and it is nothing but reality. The only things me and my husband like to watch on it are Cops, Real stories of the highway patrol and Arrest and Trial. The rest is garbage to us. They show American Idol on it too but it's last years show. I think the worst one they have come up with yet is The Wrath of The Grapes. I think that's what it's called and it is so stupid in my opinion. Has anyone seen the previews or actually watched it? It's just about the producers of American Idol and another talent show and they buy a vineyard. Such a waste of air time. In my opinion they are taking over the tv. I have been usually watching reruns of my old shows I used to watch like Charmed, Friends, Scrubs, Still Standing and Reba. :)

well..i really like watching these reality tv shows. they add to your tv experience a sense of realism and you also get to learn alot of things.like through big boss(indian version of big brother) you get to learn that it isnt very great to also live in your comfort zone.its when you move out of it that you really get some zeal into your mundane lives.moreover dont you think these reality shows provide the common people with a chance to stage their talents.

I think most reality TV is a sad commentary on America- a pathetic way for Americans to vicariously live exciting lives. Everyone seems to be so lazy that they would rather sit like a couch potato and be passively entertained than actually DO something active to entertain themselves. So sad. I hope this TV trend ends soon- but it's so popular it seems there's no end in site.

I like watching reality TV when there's nothing else on that's interesting enough to watch. If writers could put out better storylines and shows I'd watch it but until that happens reality TV is the next best thing.

I never could get into the reality shows much although I do watch american Idol on ocassion. And yes i is the same thing year after year just different singers. I think Simon is to mean to get a job and keep it. On the Today show this morning it said that Randy Jackson(The Dawg) was going to be alot harsher in his views of the singers also. I think they are all just getting sick of it but probably can't get out of contracts.

I ignore them. they are a bunch of hoeey in my opinion. Survivors first season started to flag until the eventual winner ended up running around naked on national tv. And the things that they make people do on shows like Fear Factor et cetera is just gross!

I really do not like "reality" TV like "Fear Factor". Those are not real shows. If they want reality TV, they need to go and talk to some people living on the streets. I do like "Amazing Race" though. It seems like a lot of fun and I would love to be on that show!

i think it's great to watch those stuff.. it's the real stuff.. not like the operas or movies.. well, people took their risk.. they fought to be in those shows.. their reasons might be for money but i bet it's also for experience... leave them be.
