well the world of cricket has seen some really great and deadly fast bowlers and at the same time it has given rise to equally competent batsman to play them . to me sunil gavaskar is the alltime best player against quality pace bowling for the fact no one has ever been able to dominate the west indian pace batteries like him in some of the fastest pitches then . who is your pick ?

To me its vivian alexander richards. He had to face more hardships from Bob willis,Kapil dev,Dennis lillie,Richard Hadlee,Terry alderman,Geoff lawson,Imran khan,Wasim Akram and many others. He is the bigget hitter i have ever seen. His way of pampering the cricket ball was awesome to watch. You know he is still the cricketer to hold the record for the fastest century in Test match cricket.

HAve to agree with u. gavaskar faced what has probably been the best bowling attact in cricketing history; And he did quite well too in the early 70's series in west indies. thats what made him such a great. its only a pity that some great batsmen never got to face those deadly fast bowlers. among contemporary players only dravid and ponting would have stood a chance against them, maybe jayavardhane
