here in canada we are used to freezing weather, snow storms , no power. etc first thing you do when you here a storm is coming is go out and do whatever you have to do so that you don't have to go out during the storm. and basically sit inside and watch the snow fall. oh and go out and keep your step shoveled off so that you'll be able to open your door when the storm is over.

I am in Chicago and we have very cold winters here, almost as cold as in Canada. Nothing new, but we never run out of power.

Well since I always know that winter is eventually going to come here in Iowa. This year we did not get our first snow until a week ago. And I really don't count it as winter until there is standing snow on the ground. I like to make sure that our shovels are ready to go, make sure we have some salt to melt ice, and just keep up on the shoveling so it doesn't get to out of hand. Also you have to make sure that the cars are ready to go. Check the oil, air in tires, antifreeze, all that good stuff. Make sure you have a nice window scraper. Also, make sure there is some blankets in the car in case we would happen to get stranded somewhere.

My only plan is staying indoors with lots of warm blankets to cover with. Or stay with my cousin in Arizona.

I heard about that, I really feel bad for those people this is terrible. Where I live it does not snow, Florida. When it's really cold I bundle up and make sure my heater is on. My prayers go out to everyone going through that weather.

Besides having blankets in your car it's always a good idea to have extras... extra boots, hats, mittens, scarves, those hand warmers, etc. This is especially important if you have children. Make sure the gas bill is paid and on time so that we never have to go without heat! But if the electricity went out we'd have to pack up and go live with someone until it was up and running... perhaps to Medooley's house as he seems prepared. :)

i am not really prepared for winter, i guess i stay at my business all day which i spend most of my day there, we have enough food to stay there for over a month just for four people, so i guess there is our back up plan. if we ever got stuck in a blizzard
