What was your very first job that you had growing up, and how old were you? I was a paper delivery girl when I was 12, but that only lasted for about 6 months. I worked at Wendy's for about a month when I was 15, and then got a job at McDonalds. I worked there for almost three years.

Lisa - I had a cushy job. I worked after school for an insurance company my junior and senior years of high school. One of my Dad's best friends owned a company and they hired high school kids to do their filing, mailing, those kinds of things. A lot of filing (lol). I got to play with the postage machine though, that was cool. I was very thankfully that it was a safe job, it paid well, in was near my house, and that I didn't have to deal with food! ;)

How cool! I did the same type of work at our local hospital. My mom worked (still does) in the Accounting department, so I got on as a candy striper (vounteer - hated the white and red uniform!). I did a lot of filing and such. Also made the snack runs. lol I would walk around the office with a list. They'd give me money and I'd make a trip to the vending machines downstairs. With 15+ people, the trip back up the stairs, lugging cans and cans of soda, could get long! lol

The 1st job I had was a nurses aide at a local nursing home. I was 16 at the time. It was a horrible experience as the staff there were mean to the residents. I quit after only a week there -- they were so terrible and it was so accepted by everyone that worked there.

I worked as a aide when I was 18. I HATED it! People wouldn't come and visit their family members anymore and a lot of the nurses were underpaid, so felt it was okay to be less than nice to the residents. Most of them didn't want to be there, either, so it wasn't like it was their fault! No one asks to be stuck in a nursing home to be ignored. :( Only one lady on my floor ever had visitors. I couldn't handle it. I quit after a month.

My first job was as a paperboy, where I delivered the morning edition of the Valley Daily News. It was a lot of fun at times, but then there were those cold snowy mornings that just annoyed me. The other problem, was when I had to go around and collect. There were times when like nobody on my route would be home for a week! Hmmm... or maybe they saw me coming... ;)
