Broadband or Dialup?

Ever since I changed to Broadband a few years ago I have never looked back and wonder if there are many left on dialup in your area! I have used dialup a couple of times when my provider had problems in an emergency situation and found it very slow in comparision, but I still managed, albeit very slowly and only concentrated on priority programs at that time.

yes... broadband is much faster than dialup. but there is one distinguish between them. in broadband there is no security for hackers and virus. where in dialup there is always few security against hackers and virus.

Being on a broadband connection is no different to dialup as regards hackers or viruses. Once you are connected to the World Wide Web there is no safeguard on either connection without the appropriate software in between.

If you are connected with an internet provider how can your IP adrress change. If IP means internet provider does that mean they keep changing your address if on dialup?

no deeky... there is difference... i am computer hardware eng. from last six years. i have lots of experience. what will happnd... in broadband - you are always connected in the network of your area. and there is your statick ip address. where in dialup when you connected to internet that time only you are in network. and there is not statick ip address. whenever you connect from dial up your ip address change all time. so its less risky. i am not telling that you are 100 % safe in dial up internet. but its less risky than broadband. i am also using broadband internet. because there you have unlimited access to internet. and you not have any tension about telephone bill.

That is quite a fast connection that you have there, and you are sure to be enjoying that speed compared to your old dialup connection.

Yes it certainly makes a difference when using broadband and the faster the better. Going back to dial up speeds does not bear thinking about.

DIAL UP. I don't have any choice. Where I live there is no such thing as high speed. I would have to move my house on wheels to travel the 15 miles to a bigger town to be hooked into the lines for high speed stuff. They are however going to be upgrading the lines in the next town over in a couple years.. that will put me about 8 miles away from the new lines.. HEHEHE

A house on wheels sounds a great idea. lol I suppose that there are people living in mobile homes have a caravan with a telephone connection but as to broadband I'm not so sure.

When your broadband provider has a problem and cannot be used for longer than necessary we have to use other means, and dialup is the only answer if you have only one connection.

Broadband all the way! And its true once get hooked to high speeds you cant go back to low standard solutions. and sometime one has to compromise with what is available but otherwise its the best and latest for me!

Broadband, without a doubt! Dial-up now seems sooo sloowww compared to the almost instant broadband. I've whipped thru several sites in one minute compared to only a few on dial-up. And no more of that dial-up "static" when you log on!

I had to go back to using dialup for about a month last year when I was moving interstate. After having broadband is was just terrible! Even sites I used to visit when I originally had dialup seemed worse than I remembered. I couldn't wait to get into my new home and hook up the broadband.

How did we manage before? I have never used a webcam on dialup and wonder if I could. I don't think the comp could cope with that slow speed and would give up trying for waiting too long.

I prefer Broadband, I have a good labtop with a Ati Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP kinda old but okay. Broadband is really needed around my area, since some people have Valve steam to have steam games, and chat messengers for sending files at a faster way.

I think the days of dial up are over. I think broadband is so much more reliable and so much faster. I used 2 have so much trouble wit a dial up connection. as it is the pages used 2 take ages 2 open and added 2 tat wen calls came in the connection used 2 get messed up..Once i switched 2 broadband i've had no such problems. Downloading and browsing has become so much faster and i don have any problem wit the connection. My service provider is really good so there's no need 4 me 2 use dial up at al since an emergency never arises!!

I'm never going back to dial-up, unless its an emergency and I really need to use the internet. Efficiency wise, broadband is much better than dial-up.

I use broadband and I love it! I would never change it unless something better comes out and I have yet to see that happen.
