Are you a shy person that keeps things bundled up inside? Do you freeze up in public and can't seem to get your words out right? Personally as a child up until i was almost 20 i was the shyest person to walk this earth...LOL! It wasn't until after i had kids of my own that i snapped out of it!

I have always been extremely quiet and shy. I hardly say a word usually when in a social situation... I freeze up and don't know what to say. I am 25 now... and I feel really bad that I am like this. I have tried to be more out going, but I guess I am just stuck the way I am. A shy timid little mouse lol.

i have always been shy, still am. When im in public my words are all scrambled and ill say something stupid! i have a daughter and when it comes to her it is the only time that i am not afraid to speak up and speak clearly. other than that i still freeze. i wish that i could just snap out of it and i have tried so hard to do so and it seems like when im on a roll one day it makes it twice as hard for me the next day!

I don't consider myself shy...I am quiet, lol. That's different right? I am not shy to speak up at work, home especially to my closest friends. I tend up to freeze up only during our school presentation. I hate it!

I have never been a shy person. I did everything on my own. My sister was really shy and my 21 year old daughter still is. I don't know how she copes at college.

LOL...I bet that is how my youngest sister used to feel as i always asked her to everything for me. Even simple stuff like ordering food in a mall or something i was always so shy doing even something as simple as that ... LOL!! I am rather thankful that i got over it though!!! God Bless!!!

Personally have never been shy, would miss too much in others. Am glad you have broken out of your shell and can have fun with life and your kids. I know that shyness can be almost painful and wish that people could get past it and experience more of what life has to offer.

Yes and i am grateful that i did grow out of it. I think that having my oldest daughter helped me to realize that i had to kick it and now i am always outspoken and i can get loud too ... LOL!

I was quite shy when I was younger but as you grow older, you tend to lose that shyness. I suppose the fact that I worked as a barmaid help there, and now, I chat with everybody in sight. lol.

Yeah... life experience makes us realize there is no need to feel shy to other people. I am a shy person too. During my childhood until after my marriage, I am still a shy person. I often give way to others to speak and let them dominate the speech. I am usually the listener... Maybe it has something to do with self confidence? I don't know.. maybe it is true... But after I joined myLot and have many friends here I began to learn how to speak up and all... and naturally I began being less shy among real people!! It's true but now I am a lot more loud spoken and I am thrilled by my own progress!! I am much happier now and I talk freely without having to oppress any thoughts. Whatever I want to say, I just say it. It feels great!

I tend to be a rather shy person out in public as well. I love to talk as my family and friends can attest to (and my amount of posts here as well, lol) but until I get to know a person really well (face to face situations I mean) then I'm normally pretty quiet. I have finally gotten over my shyness on the phone, it use to be I wouldn't even call to order a pizza!!! I'm slowly getting over it, glad to hear you snapped out of it too.

I am not totally shy when I am in public, but its that how close or free I am with those people. I never speak to ones when I meet them the first time or if I feel uncomfortable with them, But between friends its other matter. Its not something related to shyness but comfortable within people.

I used to be shy when I was young but I am not anymore. Since I was 18 and started working, I have become very much more outgoing. I used to become red faced if I noticed someone was going to talk to me, before the person even started. I am the opposite now. If I notice that a person at work or even in the doctor's waiting room is not going to talk to me, then I will start the conversation. Many many people just keep talking to you once you started. It is only a few who will not talk much back! Even my family members often complain that I talk too much. They say I give them a headache jokingly. Hope they are not serious.

Haha.. I can be shy at times or I just don't care about other people.. LOL Seriously, I am the silent type. I don't speak much, but when I do, everybody listens. LOL I think being like that and being shy isn't the same. =)

Yes I've had that problem for years now. I used to get so shaky and terrified, especially when I was still at school - I wouldn't look anyone in the eye, I'd feel my heart constantly racing, I'd feel constantly like I was being judged and would freeze up to the point of not saying a word all day. I could go through eight hours like that, in a kind of petrified silence. I'm a bit better now, I work on smiling and making eye contact much more than I used to. I had a kind of relapse the other day though. A teacher had asked all of us to introduce ourselves one by one around the room. I think my fear and discomfort about that must have shown on my face because she said, "I can see by the look on your face you don't like this idea. Let me just tell you...." - Then went on about how she had been teaching for so many years and wouldn't put up with any rubbish from any of us. I honestly wanted to run out of the place before it got to my turn, but I didn't. I could feel tears building up behind my eyes from the stress of it and I was shaking in an effort to control myself. I managed it though. I didn't say much when it was my turn, but I got through it. :)
