Well .. I am a single mother and have been blessed to be able to stay home with my children. I have been looking around some to see what I can find to supplement my income (currently living on SSI payments for my younger two children) Since I also home-school and my younger two are both in therapy a "job" outside my home would be very difficult to manage. I was wondering if there are any other single mothers (or even fathers) out there that have managed to (or want to) stay home with their kids, and how you are (or plan to) doing that?

well, I'm a stay at home dad in the same situation you're in. Both of my children are disabled, so working outside the home is impossible. I have one child who is homebound and then another who has weekly therapy appointments. We get by on disability and an adoption subsidy, because my ex skipped out and doesn't help support the kids at all.

Thank you soooo much for your response! My ex's don't help me out either (other then the rare child supt. the states manage to gather) and its not easy. On top of that one of my ex's has been harassing me (again) so I will soon be talking to PD about it. (already have a protective order against him from a couple years ago) Best wishes to you and Kudos for being there for your children!

I am not single mother, but I do have a few suggestions, if you don't mind me offering them. Unforutently, I don't recieve much help from my boyfriend in the working department. Since I work from home, he thinks that I should do it during the day, but I really don't. I stay at home with our daughter, who will be three soon. There are rare instances, like today, when I will work during the day. I work as a freelance writer. When that happens I work at the kitchen table with my laptop. I also set her up with crafts and stuff at the table too. She can usually be occuppied doing that for a good three or four hours. It helps to be right there because she can show me her latest masterpeice. Aside from that, I tend to work at night. Although it does make for some late nights, I think that my daughter is getting the attention that she deserves during the day. Becuase I work late at night, I don't have a set time when I get up. I usually just get up when my daughter does, to get the extra sleep. There are times when I work during her naptime, but also times when I need a nap myself (to catch up on lost sleep). If you want to make money from home, I recommend choosing the job or opporutnity carefully. You will want something that has flexiability. That is why I like writing. Although I do have deadlines, they are reasonable and most of my clients know that I am also a stay at home mom. I hope that you don't mind my suggestions. My situation can't even be compared to yours, but that is how I have managed to cope with working at home, with a child. Good luck

Thanks for your reply :) I have found that trying to work during the day with three is very hard! I do seem to be able to get in a post or two here and there though, so this is really good. I am not good at english nor do I enjoy composing stuff that has to be on a deadline. Good luck to you as well!
