Are Big, Expensive Weddings Still Necessary?

There was a time that getting married was like being sold into slavery, for the woman. To hide that fect, fantasies were implanted in a girls head very young and reinforced throughout her life until her time came. Months were spent getting everything set, and picking out the perfect dress meant that everyone kept saying now beautiful brides ALWAYS are. After the wedding was over she was now the property of her husband and bsically had no rights. Since women and wives have rights these days, Is there any need to create such expense when there is no longer a need for subterfuge to keep the young lady from analysing what her life will be like AFTER the pretty dress and the big celebration?

I think big weddings are personally a waste of money. You can have a nice wedding on a budget and fun comes with this, yes it's nice but in these days unless your rich or you parents are you'll just get into debt. going overboard renting limos and buying a wedding dress which a star recommend because she gets payed to sponser the dress makers. I enjoyed my wedding and i didn't even spend over £200. This isn't because i'm cheap btw, hehe it's because i see money as being misused and quite pointless. kudos! ~Joey

No I do not believe that big expensive wedding are necessary, and yes I understand that this is how it was done years ago but now the woman is not the property of any man but in some countries they think that they still are.

for me not really unless your future is rich and will shoulder all the expenses for your wedding. of course i also dream of the the wedding to be remember who does not want that but the fact that after the wedding your are going to face the most complicated things like having a child, sending them to school and all that, so save the money that you're planning for your wedding for the better future.
