Not using anything at the moment, can you give me any hints on what I could use please ? I would appreciate it very much. I need something good and that doesn't eat my resources like hell. Is there a 2006 antivirus ?

Hi holo4ever.. Why not give a try avira antivir personal classic edition. This can be downloaded at www.free-av.com I have been using this software for almost two years. Since using it, I have never experienced any problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Othewise, I am so impressed and satisfied with its performance. It updates on a regular basis and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your machine. Hope this would help. Have a nice day and God speed!

I use AVG free edition, its a free download off the web. A friend of mine who is a programmer uses it because he tested it and it found 4 viruses he didn't know he had. Avast is also good, and free. Norton is a resource hog and has compatibility issues. The best paid one that I know of is Trend Micros

if you ask me then i will def recommend you bit defender. it s a very good anti virus software and also its has a nice firewall. it uses less of your system resources which is again very important. there are other big names like the norton but it uses a lot of resources of your computer and slows it down

i do agree that most ani virus are too much heavy on the system, why don't you try out some free anti virus like avr anti virus and they are quite good though available for free but if you want you can donate.

I wouldn't say they are that good. I mean, a pay demanding source is more reliable because of the simple fact that those people do their job for the money!:D

I would agree with Doncris for the most part had I not had a horrible experience with Norton. Both Avira and AOL active virus shield do a better job than most paid programs, and Avast is almost as good

Well...Hi to you... Antiviruses are of imense use, I didnt knew that fact untill I started to access a broadband without proper iternet secquirty! Then within a few days my XP collasped and then I had to buy a $30 Net Protecter Antivirus system! It was the first time I actully buyed a Sowtware! I think net protecter is best, because Norton slows system very much and you have to buy Mccafe which costs dearly!

I am not an expert on anti virus. But I use Symantec anti virus. This works very well for me. It doesn't use my resources too much. Try it and let me know if you find it suitable for you.
