If you are given an option of selecting a company which is small but you are given a good post and on other hand you have a option of a big branded company but you post is of executive level... Which one would you prefer.

i might choose the big name with less significant post because people tend to associate to and recognize big names easily. it somehow adds credibility to your experience and work. but contrary to usual belief, most big firms do not pay much to beginers. you might also end up working less....and have a heirarchy of bosses over you. a small company allows more work opportunity and you are able to learn more....and even sharpen your skills. and if a small company grows....you will be a part of the founding team.

it all depends on the period of my career. if it was just the beginning i would have gone for a big company with a small post where i could get to know about the intricacies of corporate world and could learn the real work and i know for sure that big companies pay therir staff very well. while if i had to choose this pretty much afterwards in my career, i would have gone for a small company with a big post. this s beacuse of the the fact that my experience and USP would come in handy for making a small company a big one in no time. here i just want to add in, i donot have any faith in inflated job titles which are confusing with pretty much the same job profile. like CEO, MD, AMD, COO, CEE, CFO....i would rather go with a proper job description and a defined salary rather than a title in my INITIAL job days. thank you for the nice post
