Does anyone else believe there are too many drugs being prescribed by doctors? Do you think they are just treating the symptoms rather than the cause of the ailment?

I think the comment you made about being reactive rather than proactive hits the nail on the head. We keep hearing of the huge costs surrounding medication and profits by the pharmacies.I have heard that doctors are not able to recommend any natural meds/herbs etc. that although have been around and working for centuries, have not been "approved" by govt. agencies. Conspiracy time; the large pharmaseutical agencies give millions of money a year to help certain individuals run for office. If you are in office with their help, would you dosomething that could negatively-effect their profits?

We must both have made a mistake because I am sure politicians can't be bought......or rented....

I think they are enjoying their kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies really. I had one doctor prescribe my daughter a medicine for asthma that has a side effect of asthma related deaths! All she needed was something for her allergies, and in the 6 years I have gone to him for her asthma, this was never an option. I said no, so he decided to go with a prescription for her allergy. Now she is fine. IMO, that was nothing but ridiculous. He knew there was no sense in her having to take that. It has to be something in it for them and I have heard the pharmaceutical Companies do offer extra incentives to Doctors for prescribing their meds. It's sick if you ask me. Oh and yes I do think they are writing way too many prescriptions.

Well supposedly ( I get this from a trusted and educated source in the industry) kickbacks are supposed to be illegal. So they must be doing it some other way.

Yes! I agree to both. Try to get a doctor to get to the bottom of a problem and you'll have a long uphill battle. They'd rather write a prescription to treat the symptom and go on to the next patient.

And there never seems to be a shortage of patients does there?

In my case, they often have NOT prescribed enough meds but I won't go into that right now. That problem has been fixed. YOu might remember that alot of symptoms, like runy nose or cough, are treated to avoid the spread of illmess among those who are not ill.

Merry Meet SageMother. I know what you're talking about there to. I wasn't even getting started on that topic yet. Nevermind the antibiotics that are over prescribed.
